  1. Thank you! Lot of wishcasting on here. my temp actually climbed over last hour. wet flakes were just that, not a region wide transition as the storm exited. Temps are still in the 40s. Exactly as predicted all week
  2. That was a very large band of heavy rain that went through at 6:30a In a different climate this would’ve been a major snowstorm 42F
  3. At least we arent under the orange or yellow zone from cuomo or on that map
  4. The catskills are still completely shut down. scary. I can’t wait to put on the skis
  5. Have you been in the same forum over the last week? Guys have been going on and on over the great look and great pattern. I kept pointing out that the first week of December was getting warmer and warmer in the midst of all the cold and snow talk. 50 and rain on Monday. 50 and rain this weekend. 50 and rain next weekend. Not even close
  6. 32F as a sea of warmth with transient cold shots and warm rain continues. Very consistent pattern through several years of shifting blocking, pac jet, mjo, nina, nino, and month. I predict it will continue...without ever looking at Day 10 on a LR forecast
  7. Inlaws have 10 inches of snow on ground in Cleveland. We are talking about another week in the 50s and a rainstorm
  8. Agreed. It is all lining up against prolonged cold. New normal is close to 3 degrees above normal. AN is 5 plus degrees...Not through a few days of extreme warmth, but a persistent above normal that wont dissipate. Snowstorms require luck now. Prolonged snow on ground is non existent. We will see if this is a few year trend or not, but I have a feeling you are right
  9. Cold air side, I am surprised nobody’s talking about most of the first week of December now running above normal. A change from just a few days ago 55F at 7 am. Doing yard work in shorts on 12/1
  10. 64F at night on November 30. I sure as heck hope we hit the warmest ever because this level and depth of warmth is just unprecedented.
  11. The city got rid of a lot of the native trees on the street (according to my cousin who works in the Parks Dept) Because they were susceptible to the Asian Long Horned Beetle. But let’s face it, with the warm overnights, the city (not so much surrounding area yet) is in a different climate zone then it was 30 years ago. That is a huge reason for leaves hanging on in the concrete jungle
  12. what is the accuracy of the snow total forecasts 3 weeks out? Just entertainment
  13. 62F Sun peaking. Someone has to make a run at 70F today Couldn’t ask for better weather for a pandemic Thanksgiving
  14. I always wondered why they can’t just plant a tree and leave it there all year around. It would be the most famous urban tree in the world. Although, in fairness, a lot of the Rock Center trees have been in distressed situations and needed to be removed anyway (at least they usually say that)
  15. 30F Third freeze. Not bad for mid November… And almost impossible to believe in the sea of warmth we’ve had
  16. That’s right. just like two weeks ago nobody was talking about the cold this week. Even in a warm month, you get some cold weeks things lineup and you make out. Nobody should be writing off anything beyond next week at this point
  17. Different climate now. That’s what we are looking at. None of the patterns mean anything if there’s a giant SE Ridge that will always win. We are playing three card monte with a dude on an upside down cardboard box in the 70s in Times Square. You get fooled for a little bit, But the sketchy looking guy across from you always wins.
  18. Good point. It is just happening with a much warmer regime now. For a city that was always on a rain/snow line and never locked in wall to wall cold like a midwestern city, that is the death blow The relentless big storm phenomenon was a recent addition, and now subtraction
  19. It’s not just southern Long Island. My parents are in Queens and I’m their snow shovel guy. I haven’t lifted a snow shovel for them in 2 years. Everything was either too small or melted in quick order
  20. The size and scope of that was unbelievable. Due to the colder mins and large swings, this stretch didnt even come close in numbers. But it was close in that “unnatural” feeling.
  21. I have been out of town since last week. Arrived to peak leaves in the city. Spectacular color. I am surprised no one has mentioned it between the November doom and gloom
  22. Walk away from the ledge. Save it for the third week in Feb. Until then, find whiskey and start your snow blower...just to make sure its ready for that hopefully inevitable snow storm that melts within 24 hours. Oh wait...that was last year with the better pattern
  23. Right. This fact isnt lost on me. This is the complete opposite of the last several Novembers. I wont type what I am thinking next because it would be pure speculation. 51F
