  1. From the 8pm advisory: Wind speeds atop and on the windward sides of hills and mountains are often up to 30 percent stronger than the near-surface winds indicated in this advisory, and in some elevated locations could be even greater.
  2. There is a G2 now but of course it is 2:30pm LOL.
  3. Very cool yeah there may be more tonight if that G2 verifies.
  4. Looks like the X8 flare on the sun's limb was enough to at least send some of the CME in our direction. We may see up to G2 storming tonight or more likely tomorrow night. The forecast is favorable for viewing as far as the weather goes. Obviously timing is everything. The moon phase is waning which is good as well.
  5. Yes the pink was definitely naked eye visible and you could clearly see the color. These were only 4-6 second exposures at 1250 ISO. It didn't last long but it was bright when it was there.
  6. A couple of more form last night. The rod to the left of the tree was actually south of due west.
  7. Thank you and yeah we got a lucky break in the clouds for a couple of hours. Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk
  8. Here is what I caught. I was at 1250 ISO for 4-6 sec so it was pretty bright to the naked eye before it faded quick:
  9. Sky exploded with pillars for a bit here then died. Pics to come Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk
  10. Its there! Nice arc Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk
  11. We are partly cloudy here. If it is there ill see it shortly Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk
  12. The moon will be the issue. Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk
  13. I am getting in position now Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk
  14. A CME has struck and the direction is way south -32nt. We shall see if the Kp is high enough. SWPC says a G2 is in progress.
  15. It is now a G3 watch and an X7 flare occurred this morning.
  16. G2 watch for the 6th/7th. Unfortunately it will be cloudy and rainy.
  17. It is really totality or bust after what I experienced. The 2:36 duration went by so quickly. I only wish I could see a 4 or 6 minute event. I am now hooked and would love to chase to South America in 2019. Jeremy
  18. Thank you and seeing venus and bright stars emerge was pretty awesome. I was at the spot in greenville the night before and figured it would be packed there.
  19. That is an awesome shot and one hell of a photogenic landscape. I would recommend not being in New England for April 2024. We all know how cloudy it is that time of year. I wish I could go to South America in 2019.
  20. I got an alert that it went to 6 as I was driving back from the eclipse in SC. Of course I was in NC (still am until Sunday) at the time. It would have been cool to see aurora and totality in the same day but that is asking too much. You were absolutely dead on with the difference totality makes vs. 99%. I am still on a high from the experience. I only wish the duration of totality was a little longer but still that was incredible. I was sure to focus on experiencing the event over taking photos and I am happy I did and still of course came away with a few grabs. The shadow approaching like a wall from the west, the diamond ring, totality/corona, and the end of totality with it looking like someone was raising the lights in a room are moments I won't ever forget. I want to chase one in South America in 2019!
  21. Here is one more crop to highlight the star Regulus making an appearance to the upper left of the sun/moon disc. Unless I bracketed, I am guessing I wouldn't have that if underexposed more to gain better detail in the Corona:
