  1. Relative to the media coverage it's not that bad. Stuffy yes, but I've endured more uncomfortable days this month. Basically overcast now but still 91.
  2. 89 dew 73, feels like 97
  3. Heat advisory is for 95 - 99 for 2 consecutive days or 100 - 104 for any length of time. Excessive heat warning is for 105+ for at least 2 consecutive hours.
  4. NWS upped forecast to 100. Those consecutive lows in the mid 60s afterwards may be more impressive though.
  5. In a downpour. Couldn't make it through as a rain free weekend. Looks like just a Bronx, Southern Westchester special. A lot of thunder too. Got to 90 before the rain. Still a nice weekend overall.
  6. Yeah many warm memories from that crazy month. I remember riding my bike from the Bronx to Astoria in a t shirt and shorts just before Christmas.
  7. Mostly sunny and 87. Blowing past forecast highs with all this sunshine.
  8. Yeah what is this..I woke up and it's a whole new forecast, or am I getting my days mixed up.
  9. Flash flood warning. NYC (except SI), southern Westchester, Southern Fairfield, CT, northern Nassau
  10. Doesn't even look like the sea breeze is limiting temps very much.
  11. Yeah got super dark then 15 -20 min t storm, now breaks of sun with light rain continuing. Was quite the deluge. Quickly picked up 0.60"
  12. JFK 84 with dew up to 77 feel like 94
  13. Briefly touched 90 earlier, which makes heat wave. Now 87 but the humidity is back..dew 73, Feels like 94
  14. That's the most common definition I've seen but it does vary by region. I don't think there is a set offical scientific number across the board. Whatever a region considers "abnormally hot" According to the NWS.. "What is a heat wave? A heat wave is a period of abnormally hot weather generally lasting more than two days. Heat waves can occur with or without high humidity..." I'd agree 3 days isn't that remarkable now. For the Park maybe a little bit. But EWR, LGA and other mid atlantic cities it's not a huge deal.
  15. I was at Long Beach, LI on Sat and the sports watch I was wearing was saying 78 - 79 water temp. Felt remarkably warmer then a couple weeks before. Once we got into the persistent high humidity stretch with onshore flow they took off. They say saying we are nearing 40 - 50% of the world's ocean in marine heat wave status. FL been setting records with water temps well into the 90s, and 97 around the Keys. I've swam in upper 80s to just around 90, I can't imagine upper 90s water temps. Pushing 80 here before Aug and without the help of an intense heat wave is impressive.
  16. 92..high of 93. Doesn't feel so bad though with lower dews
  17. Bring on the mid morning heat. 90 dew 72 feel like 98
  18. Reached a surprising 95. Finally a day with no clouds from t storms in the area or smoke in the sky probably helps. Down to 85 now.
  19. 94/70 dp. Dew point was falling slowly, now back on the rise.
  20. High of 91 here. Now a muggy 85/72. Occasional dark clouds in the distance but no rain.
  21. People will come out if it's 30% chance of late afternoon to evening shower/tstorm. But when the forecast shows threat of rain all day from morning, it scare them away. Even if the chances aren't that high. Plus when it's clear there smoke days too smh The NWS point and click for me leads with "Heavy Rain." When you look close it shows 30 - 40% chance of rain all day long.
  22. LGA has a decent shot of estsblishing a heat wave. But it seems the forecast is turning to more wideapread storms tomorrow so maybe not? Sitting at 89 here, feels like 94.
  23. a little surprised...got to 89 today with some mid 90s heat index values. Another day of no rain despite continued threats scaring people away. looks like some drizzle now though.
  24. All this rain talk for a warm and humid partly sunny day
  25. Outdoor graduation party here for this afternoon, moved inside for now but still can't call if outside is doable. Went from rain likely to 30 - 50% tops chance of a shower. Gonna be some upset ppl if cramped inside and the sun is shining at 430pm. A lot of tough calls at a busy time of yr. Friday am outdoor graduation intended to get ahead of heavy rain ended up being a soaker
