Close, but not really THAT close still. Some adjustments will get us closer but, at least for us around 95, sorry OCMD, but we want that rain over top of you, and it's still pretty far off the coast.
-
Wow, all whiffs. Very odd given some of those low positions. Might just still be too far east. We really need it tucked right on the coast.
-
Now that's the trend we need. Nice clustering of lows not only moving west but also shifting south as well. I would expect the some pretty big snows very close to 95 with those low positions with the individual GEFS members. The question is if the GEFS have any value anymore.
-
Had a feeling it was still too far east and more of a coastal hit than anything. I think some on here forget how close we want a low pressure off the coast for the general metro areas to get crushed.
-
RGEM looked pretty good to me but was probably heading just a tad too far east for us, but coastal regions should boom. But seems really close. Will be interesting to see what CMC says.
-
Last storm needed a nudge southeast and went northwest. This storm needs a trend southwest. Can we finally get the trend we actually need for that particular storm to work out for us?
-
I'll take that chance when big snows are so close by. I've seen 2-4 inches of snow 15 times in 6 years. I've seen more than that once or twice, and it was about 5-6 inches those two times.

Didn't realize that about 2/14. That was a heck of a storm for people, especially up your way.- 4,130 replies

Late January and February Medium/Long Range Discussion

Sure, it could snow. My point was never that it's not going to snow, but I'm also (and I'm assuming most people freaking out over huge snowfall totals on the snow maps) aren't looking for a few inches. We can fluke into some snow in completely garbage patterns. But a big snow? Can anyone give me Baltimore's biggest snowstorm with a positive AO and NAO? What is it? 6 inches maybe? I just see a lot of people getting excited about the big coastal idea and then getting depressed when it's not showing up and my only point is that teleconnections tell us this would be the first time we would get a big hit with the AO and NAO not on our side.- 4,130 replies

This. The teleconnections don't line up. I'm not really even sure why people have been excited by this period. Sure, we have a solid PNA and EPO, but the AO and NAO are not cooperating at all. AO is so important.- 4,130 replies

Have we ever had a snowstorm of anywhere near that significance with a positive AO and NAO? This seems like just dreaming given that neither of those is negative.- 4,130 replies

Cause we don't have blocking for that kind of track Right, but where the hell is all the blocking that was predicted this winter? That was supposed to be about the only thing in our favor this winter.- 4,130 replies

I thought the exact same when I saw it. No thanks. Why is it so hard to get a storm running into Tennessee and then redeveloping off Myrtle?- 4,130 replies

Desperately need some blocking to develop for all of these coastal storms.

A tiny bit of snow on the mulch. Will probably be gone in a few minutes as it looks like the snow is tapering off. That's all I've got. -

That's weird because I think he is southeast of me if he is in old EC. It's still just rain here, not that it really matters. -

Still raining here and I can see the back edge approaching. -
Just on many s/w and fast flow. Where is that blocking promised by the e qbo. So frustrating Yeah, I don't get what happened to all this blocking that was expected this winter.

The king got mad at all the trash that was being talked about it. GFS definitely screwed up with the transition zone/timing on this one in a big way. -
