    Did it really underperform because of temperatures, though? It felt like we just never got the rates advertised, at least at my house. I never saw anything close to 2 inches per hour, and even when it did pick up, it was short-lived. I'll end up with a little under 2 probably. Getting the 4-6+ the models showed was always going to mean 2-3 hours of very heavy snow because of the progressive nature of the system. That just didn't happen.

    Should I just make up fake reports? He's asking what it's doing at home. Maybe I should tell him it's a blizzard and he has a foot on the ground. I'm sure that would make him happy when he finally returned home to see the ground truth.

    It's not. Almost feels like the sun is about to pop out at times.

    It's not a disaster by any means, but, at least for my backyard (yours may be different as I know places farther west have snowy roads), this has not lived up to what models depicted. I never had 2 inch rates or anything close to it, and I never had significant wind or anything really close to blizzard conditions, or conditions rapidly deteriorating on roads. It's just been disappointing, which has matched basically every event this winter.

    Temps still slowly nudging down. Down to 31 now, but the snow on the edges of the driveway is actually starting to melt. March sun starting to do its work with lighter rates and a thinner cloud deck. Any hope of road accumulation seems over. Fitting end to the season.

    Just can't get the driveway to fully cave. Don't think it's going to happen. Honestly disappointing. I thought the snow would come in like a wall with true blizzard conditions and roads would cave not long thereafter. Rates just aren't there to get it done.

    Sidewalks and driveways getting slushy and trying to cave. Wind seems to have picked up a bit.

    It has picked back up a little here, but I wonder if that huge slug of moisture that came through this morning wasn't a little farther east than expected and we ended up with some of that being rain when some of it should have been snow.

    Impatiently waiting on those 2 inch per hour rates. Having quite the lull here. This ain't going to get it done.

    Been all snow here for about 15 minutes. Almost instant stickage to everything except dirt and paved surfaces. Will be interesting to see if/when the paved surfaces cave. Not much wind, though. A little breezy at times, but certainly no big gusts or sustained winds.

    I've had sleet for about an hour.

    Frustrating I can't get rid of the sleet. Seems like the models that showed the decent period of sleet were accurate. Hoping that this helps cool all the surfaces faster so the snow sticks almost immediately.

    Still sleet here with a few flakes mixing in. Some icy slush on the car windshield by the wipers.

    Think I'm hearing some pingers now. Usually the absolute worst sound in the world, but it's the best sound today!

    Temp just dropped four degrees in no time. Down to 40.

    Still heavy rain and 44 here, but it can't be that far away. Guessing I flip sometime around 7:30 to 8.

    Looks like it just shifted the heavy band from over the metros to out toward the Catoctins.

    Unless it's a big storm with a lot of model consensus, like the 2016 storm had a week out, I think limiting snow maps to inside of 5 days makes sense. I don't know if there is anything that means less than the GEFS snow maps. Totally worthless.

    Yeah, much warmer. Only those far northern spots get anything.

    Delay for what, though? Even in my shadiest, coldest spots, there was no ice accumulation on paved surfaces. If we are going to have a delay today, guess we should just start having a delay for any time it rains.

    Woke up and was surprised Hoco has a delay. Paved surfaces are just wet, but the trees are encased in ice and the grass is crusty from I’m guessing some kind of sleet and freezing rain combo.

    Temp has been steady at 30 for hours according to my weather app but no ice to speak of. Cars are just wet and even the trees don’t seem to have any glaze. I get the ground has been warm leading in but pretty surprised that 30 under darkness isn’t doing anything.
