Yeah that was a pretty impressive storm. I went for a run this morning and could see huge tops from that storm. -

NAM seems to like Thursday morning and then Thursday evening. -

Well it's almost 4 pm and there is nothing on radar so that probably doesn't bode well. -
Got down to 52. Played golf yesterday morning and felt like early fall teeing off at 8 am. Amazing weather. Wish it would stay around all summer.

One positive for the lack of rain is I won't have to cut my grass every five days. Been crazy the past six weeks or so. Grass is just constantly long and in need of cutting. Could use a bit of a break. -

Yeah, blew through quick. Had a quick blast of wind/rain as it first hit and then some thunder, but worst of it went southeast through Catonsville. -

Seems like the models have a good grasp of what things look like right now. Rough Monday and Friday for forecasters for our area. Swing and a miss. -

That all looks like it is going way north of us. -

It's amazing outside. Should have just fast-forwarded to this part. -

Sure, there is a chance for a severe thunderstorm or two. That isn't a reason to dismiss schools early. -

Yeah, I can't believe they made that decision. Whoever is in charge of weather decisions in Hoco has had an awful year. Was pretty obvious as of a couple hours ago that this initial round was going to turn this into a bust. So far, there was an early dismissal for flooding potential on a day when flooding was never of great concern, a snow day on a day where there was no accumulation on roads, and now this. May have been some others as well. -
Would have been really cool. I was hoping to see some flakes today but no cigar. Interesting that Columbia reported a trace this morning. I thought I might have heard a few sleet pellets against the windows this morning but it wasn't enough to get me up to look. Guessing that's what happened given the Columbia report from earlier.

I think it depends on the scale you grade it. If you grade it on expectations heading into the winter, I'd probably give it a B- or even a B because we seemed to think this winter might be pretty bad. But if you grade it on just a general scale with no expectations on what happened and how close it was to something better, that's where I went with a D+, but I'll admit areas not far from me had that one really nice storm I missed out on and that certainly would have bumped the grade a lot.

That seemed to come out of nowhere. Really long rumble, too.

D+. Had the potential to be so much better. Was going to go with a D but had some fun flizzard events even into late March that were at least kinda fun.

Yes, we can all hope one day our houses get destroyed by a tornado or very strong winds. I've never understood the desire to have it actually happen at your house when it comes to really bad severe weather. -
Had a few minutes of flakes falling and then switched over to drizzle.
-
I'm right in that. It was mostly light snow and then it started dumping for about 10 minutes and I have a light dusting on the ground. Big, fluffy flakes. My mulch is completely covered and at it's hardest, the sidewalk seemed like it was trying to cave. Won't be heavy enough for long enough to pull that off, though. Honestly, might be a top 5 event for me this winter (even though it's actually now spring).

Saw a photo from a traffic cam west of Frederick and 70 is blanketed.
-
Been flurrying/light snow shower here for about a half hour or so now. Third day in a row I've had flakes falling from the sky and it's late March. Quite impressive. Looks like the band west of Fredrick has a snow squall warning for it now.

3/12 Event: Winters Last Hurrah at Least East of Mountains
osfan24 replied to Weather Will's topic in Mid Atlantic
Wow that's wild. And 7 inches is a great event up there. It's not HRDPS stuff, but it certainly verified the other models, especially since you will likely tack on another inch or two with Round 2. -

Damn, down to 29 now. This had potential. Just couldn't quite put it all together at my location. Loved some of the pics posted by the favored areas, though. Looked like a nice event for those spots. -

Exactly. My temp is still dropping and down to 30 now. It was 31-34 while snowing most of the morning. With heavy rates, that will cave roads even in mid March after a warm day. 31-34 with alternating moderate to light rates with a few moments of heavier rates is not going to get it done. -

Did it really underperform because of temperatures, though? It felt like we just never got the rates advertised, at least at my house. I never saw anything close to 2 inches per hour, and even when it did pick up, it was short-lived. I'll end up with a little under 2 probably. Getting the 4-6+ the models showed was always going to mean 2-3 hours of very heavy snow because of the progressive nature of the system. That just didn't happen. -

Should I just make up fake reports? He's asking what it's doing at home. Maybe I should tell him it's a blizzard and he has a foot on the ground. I'm sure that would make him happy when he finally returned home to see the ground truth.
