  1. Past hour
  2. On the news they were saying everything closes at 8 PM, is this true.... and how do you close off the beach?
  3. Gino's was my first and favorite pizza as a kid on Long Island too. I think I was 9 years old when I first had it.
  4. it's really interesting, there was no prediction of any rain for today and yet it happened (for some-- there was zero rain here).
  5. Yes, as soon as I turned on my air conditioning today my allergies went away.
  6. and don't forget really bad air pollution either via forest fires or toxic chemical emissions
  7. They'll be moving to more inland cities like Orlando.
  8. I love winter, but I hate the ugly weather that happens during these transition seasons especially when we have onshore flow. My happy medium would be very snowy winters and then an offshore wind during spring and summer to keep the marine layer where it belongs-- out over the ocean lol.
  9. I’m just thankful for the rains to have returned. We needed it here in Middle Tennessee. Let it stay warm with afternoon rain & storms every 3-4 days. I will call it a win!
  10. Today
  11. High for the day yesterday was 88 here. Current temp 58
  12. High for the day yesterday was 88 here. Current temp 58
  13. I caved today & the AC is now on in Marysville. It looks like it will only be needed for a few days this week before temps back off a bit.
  14. One bad hurricane season and Florida will see a mass exodus. Insurance rates are already the highest in the country and increase 30% per year. Not sure how the state can handle another big one, insurance companies will just stop writing policies.
  15. Yes it will. But this depiction, in my opinion, is well supported by the combination of the projected nina + neg PDO + marine heat wave off Japan.
  16. Looks like KIND is going to be over an inch of rain today. Only 0.42" in my tippy bucket as there was no thunder here like at KIND. Did give me a real nice sunset though...
  17. @snowman19 This eruption is even larger than the first, this is incredible. The first was a solid VEI 4 by itself with about .40 cubic kilometers of erupted material. Given this blast now is even larger, there really is a chance for a collective VEI 5 event here. These are incredible sequences of lava dome creation and destruction, like Shiveluch last year but even larger and more powerful.
  18. I am going to over-share the sunset this evening. It just happened to be one of those. A departing system timed out perfect even though I had to be camped out under the umbrella for the first part of it. It was worth it. As the color started. And normally I would be thrilled with this much. But it was only the appetizer. Taken with the 24-70mm at 39mm... As the orange started to crank. Looking to the north. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Looking southwest as the red was serious getting into the area. Taken with the 24-70mm at 31mm... Looking west as the red was departing the area. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Good night my darl'in, wherever you are...
  19. It’s 80 at 10:40 pm - it’s like peak summer right now.
  20. When I was in Malaysia with the extreme humidity there was a time it dropped to 78F and I felt cold. Mid last week was terrible with "filthy" temps both at night and day. It was below 0 chill even during the daytime Weds! Overnight low Thurs I think was -5C then you have this weekend where Sat into Sun overnight it was 20C here! Sat was great in the afternoon it over-achieved to 23C humdiex over 26. The trend of rain in the morning then clearing later in the day continues. Just today a squall line gave 6mm so 9mm total so far today.
  21. My understanding is that it is still preliminary. I believe Tim Marshall is going to Elkhorn tomorrow to survey. He was in Marietta today and his findings at the Dollar Tree Distribution Center was the reason that tornado got upgraded to EF4.
  22. The dangers of global warming more or less stretch beyond the actual warming aspects. Floods, droughts, fires, water toxicity, disruption to plant/animal species, sea level rises, coastal flooding, destructive storms and yes brutal summer heat and sometimes unusual winter storms are all part of it. This hurricane season may really test these factors
