I can't wait until your flip on a dime in about 2.5 months.
-
Yea, I'd take your type of cold any day iver mine.
-
Took the day off and played 18 holes. Absolutely perfect.

I'm not sure a favorable Atlantic side would even save us with flow off the Pacific like that. Even if we got a strong -NAO pattern what would our cold air source be? I suppose you could try to get homegrown air from Canada but with an active STJ I wonder if you could ever reduce heat fluxes from the south enough to allow a real buildup of cold air.

*Long confounded reflection as to what in the hell the SFS beta2 is*

Yeah. With how east based this is, i think it will try to default to this pattern. Maybe the strat warming will somehow shake this up and give us something better

Its 342 hr out on GFS, but that model cap is consummately insane. The stout ridge makes it all the way to the north pole?

2026-2027 Record-breaking El Nino

Once upon a time, this place used to have moderators....that crap detracts from the quality of threads and suspensions should be dished out...everyone knows to whom I'm referring...not someone like Chris or Adam, who do nothing but add value, even though they love them some warm. -
This! But his long growing season is very limited. That’s the only point. Most all of us are long done.

2026-2027 Fall/Winter Mountain Thread
Tyler Penland replied to BlueRidgeFolklore's topic in Southeastern States
There was a fight on the Viaduct one day due to pedestrians being on the bridge. I heard but haven't been able to verify that people were stopping their cars and getting out while on it at times. Absolute insanity. Ever since the Covid outdoor run it's been a madhouse up there, and seems like more tourons every year. The NRG area during fall color is magical. Did you make it up to Dolly Sods? I've always wanted to get up there for the fall color. -
Nothing wrong with a long growing season, embrace it. “Dig” into the local climate and take advantage of it. Your elevation storm will come at some point, maybe even more likely in a Nino winter where fresh cold air could be harder to come by.
-
Agreed 100%. Kevin trying to call it warm autumn lmao… it’s exactly where it should be.
-
But here again…you’re taking about the future, for which you could be utterly wrong. This is stupidity. We were talking About what has already happened. This is sad…this is what you do, you compare something that hasn’t happened yet, to something that has. It’s comical Kev. And, I think you’ll be wrong about the winter as a whole…but we will see?
-
I don’t call it anything. It’s just a reality of living where I do. Pretty uniform temps outside of the “urban” cities here. I just love the clean, crisp, cooler air that this time of year can deliver. It’s my favorite season.
-
I'll let anybody who bet on October revise lmao
-
Beautiful!
-
I’m perfectly fine with growing the garden , keeping lawn green , not using much heat in the warm autumns moving into warm winter. If you can prepare your own mindset for a mild , wet winter it helps with getting angry or stressed when it’s raining in DJF. At least for me
-
Every area has its advantages/or disadvantages… depending on ones perspective. In this case/regard…we cold. We freeze. And have quite a few times already. Nothing fake about any of it…fall frosts and freezes, or early season elevation snows…it’s real as real can be.
-
There’s always ball busting on here, but honestly don’t think anyone tries to make you feel bad for missing out… I mean you get great joy out of using your air conditioning as much as possible, think of it like that. Some folks don’t understand it. 30F

October 2026 General Discussion
michsnowfreak replied to SchaumburgStormer's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
The nonstop sunny days with the autumn foliage are putting on a nonstop show. Was in northern lower MI for a few days. Took the Skybrige at Boyne Mountain. Absolutely incredible. -
Yup, down to mid 30s now. Brrrisk out there. Call it fake but there is a unique feel to living in the lowlands/“swamps” of SEMA.
-
Here’s where you’re completely incorrect. Nobody is ever TRYING to make you upset at ALL. YOU ARE the one who takes the reports of frost and freezes, and turns them into people trying to make you get upset. Honestly, NOBODY is trying to do that. You on the other hand, take the reports of the frosts/and freezes that way, and then say, Alot of the area hasn’t frosted or frozen yet, because you haven’t. Which is a complete falsehood. It’s all good bro. You’ll get the 3” of snow, while the rest of us get a dusting to a half inch if we’re lucky, in an early season marginal event. The difference is, I/we won’t tell you it’s fake, because it was only elevation dependent.
