  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah maybe I’ll tickle near 50. But even a N wind here is off the water and keeps it a tad warmer. Grass finally looking good again so hopefully plenty of mild frostless days to come. Need time to appreciate it before it dies.
  3. Temperatures will top out mainly in the lower 70s tomorrow and Monday. It will then turn noticeably warmer on Tuesday before another cool front crosses the region on Wednesday. Highs on Tuesday will likely reach the lower 80s with some middle 80s in the warmer spots. The advancing front could trigger some showers or thundershowers. Some additional rain is possible Thursday into Saturday as a low moves along the frontal boundary. Ensemble support for a significant rainfall is low. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was -0.2°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was -0.5°C for the week centered around September 10. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged +0.10°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged -0.37°C. La Niña conditions will likely develop during mid- or late-autumn. The SOI was -2.85 today. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was -0.403 today. Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied near 58% probability that New York City will have a cooler than normal September (1991-2020 normal). September will likely finish with a mean temperature near 68.9° (0.3° below normal). Supplemental Information: The projected mean would be 0.9° above the 1981-2010 normal monthly value.
  4. We can take the over all the time except…in this pattern.
  5. Wonder if it’ll get under 50 here ? If it does it’ll be 47 ish
  6. Millionth stunner of a day in a row today. Did the some vehicle "hiking" up Mt. Kearsarge. Passed a (European, I think???) cyclist beginning the climb up the auto-road at the park-entrance gate. By the time I was "hiking" down the little half-mile trail that takes you to the actual summit, the man had already finished the climb and was actually going up the trail wearing clipless cycling shoes. When I made it back to the parking lot near the top, I noticed he had left his gravel bike leaning against the trail information stand unlocked and unattended. Not sure I would be ballsy enough to do that with a bike worth several grand.
  7. Probably a raccoon and I bet it will be back. It can smell them and I’d bet they made enough peeps from the roof walking so that it could hear them too. Just make sure that hardware cloth is very secure and that all doors are tight and preferably locked. They’re pretty good with their hands. I have one of those little Wyze cams aiming on the coop and run. It was only like $25 on Amazon.
  8. Probably for educational purposes for future storms
  9. Yeah sorry, no scale for reference. Peak of the roof ridge is 6', and the metal panels are about 7" wide. The ground would've been wet enough last night, and there's a variety of dirt all over here - so not wet enough to make a print, but enough to get its feet dirty. There are raccoons around, and I have heard fisher here, but not in the last 2 warm seasons. Hens are safe inside the coop. I do wonder if it hung out and tried to get in, or of they stayed silent and the critter moved along. The only part that's not secure is their window. Hardware cloth under, but it's a small piece, and if nothing else they'd be freaking out and injure one another.
  10. Yeah you can just feel it want to decouple and plummet as the sun goes down
  11. only 7 more months of Autumn until summer again.
  12. Crazy how much cooler it feels once the sun goes behind the trees. That’s what separates this from true summer. Even when the sun goes behind trees or isn’t beating on you, it’s still hot.
  13. Today
  14. Without the wind would be even more perfect. Wind is kinda ruining it
  15. Records:Highs:EWR: 92 (1983)NYC: 93 (1983)LGA: 90 (1983)JFK: 85 (1997) Back in those days NYC was hotter than either EWR or LGA lol.
  16. didn't we have over 2 inches of rain just a few weeks ago Chris??
  17. wow 1983 truly was a historic summer, I miss that kind of sustained heat..... on the flip side, the cold of 1993-94 got started on this date. we did flip back to Indian summer in November with our latest 80 on record on the 15th, but it was just a blip in time for the NYC Marathon. The heat only lasted 2 days.
