I had to this past summer when there was a software issue . It’s always been dead nuts accurate . In icing events for example with zr involved. It’s simply an extreme example of a microclimate. Almost same elevation as ORH and typically very similar temperatures especially on fake radiating nights. I mean there has not been any frost this fall. Not on cars or rooftops
-
ORH was 34° so I don’t think his station is too far off
-
Not sure if this Capital Weather link was already shared, but Boom or Bust seems to be the theme for the upcoming winter.... https://www.capitalweather.com/boom-or-bust-five-experts-reveal-their-dc-winter-snow-predictions/
-
There was a 1400’ site out there at 42°.
-
Low of 33 in Marysville. Another beautiful weekend is upon us! So, what did I miss yesterday on here, lol?
-
Serious question, when was the last time you tuned up your station and verified it was calibrated correctly. It wouldn’t change the overall issue but I’m curious.
-
Thanks Dream! excellent post and great points! I like you was on the opposite side of the fence but switched to the more benign view of CC. Just to be clear I of course believe in Climate Change that is scientific fact! I simply believe in the cyclical version plus I don't buy the one way ticket to boiling etc. that some of the more passionate alarmists lean into.

This extreme warmth is about to be realized at the surface come December. The +4C December peak being shown by the EURO is absolutely believable and very likely -
Special place there. You still growing and blooming? Was at my cousins yesterday in the Lordship neighborhood right next to BDR. Legit looked like summer there still. Full blooms everywhere. Neighbor had a full vegetable garden still going strong.

28.7F. Measured 0.01" on the frost board. It's all we got.

Bottomed out at 33F with plenty of frost. -
No! A major gulf of alaska low is getting a bad rap repeated into the ground by everyone because a handful of Strong Nino analogs were like that. ENSO does not significantly stretch wavelengths. What you are actually seeing there is a skewed sample, and that's because it's a small sample! I've plotted the Winter pattern 100 times, not 5, and the mean is average temps from DC to NYC, below average in Richmond. With -AO/NAO it's a solidly below average temp pattern.. as long as the -H5 doesn't extend into Alaska. A +EPO is a much different story.

We had one around the same time last year. They've happened in October in before. I use 9/30 as the "starting date" for potential Stratosphere warming/coolings. I think there are 10 somewhat significant + events in October since 1948.

Low of 25.7

34° with heavy frost this morning in the Valley. It's going to be a beautiful day for the Bluegrass Festival! -
El Nino's favor Stratosphere warmings, so I think given 100 examples the El Nino tendency is -nao, -ao. Strong -QBO in 09-10 really pushed that tendency further. West-based Nino/Strong -QBO.. yeah give me that Winter
