  2. Which is insane. I'm sorry, but the American League Championship Series should not be played during the day for any reason. If the weather sucks, postpone. People are paying thousands of dollars for a game that may not happen very often, especially for the two clubs in question. There should never be a scenario in which a chair is without an ass to fill it because work gets in the way.
  3. @ineedsnowand @CoastalWx immediately rushed to see what *exactly* happened in SNE in 2000-01 winter!
  4. The main issue China is having with renewable energy is that the transmission infrastructure hasn’t been able to keep pace. So much of the clean energy has gone unused. This has lead to the continuing reliance on coal. While AI data centers also utilize large amounts of electricity, it would be interesting to see if AI can eventually figure out a way to transition away from fossil fuels. We know that AI hasn’t been getting very good press lately due to how it’s currently being developed. But it would be ironic if it can figure out some exotic clean energy source that will revolutionize the world. Even a more effective way to manage wind and solar would be a welcome AI achievement. https://e360.yale.edu/digest/china-renewable-curtailments China is leading the world on renewable energy, last year installing more wind and solar capacity than every other country put together. But its buildout has unfolded at such a ferocious pace that China is now generating much more electricity than its power grid can handle, meaning that huge amounts of clean power are going unused. When the grid is at capacity, operators must reject electricity from wind and solar plants to prevent overloads and blackouts. In the first six months of this year, China rejected 360 terawatt-hours of clean energy, enough to power Mexico for a year, according to a report from Global Energy Monitor and the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air. “Had this electricity been absorbed, the additional power supply could have met all demand growth and allowed coal power generation to fall,” analysts said. The problem, analysts say, is that China lacks the transmission infrastructure necessary to ferry its abundant clean energy from where it is generated to where it is needed. Also stymying the consumption of clean energy is a policy that guarantees the purchase of electricity from newly built coal power plants. Despite a pledge to shift away from coal, China continues to permit and construct new generators. “Coal capacity is still growing because of legacy approvals and policy protections, even as plants run fewer hours and large volumes of clean electricity go unused,” said Qi Qin, an analyst at the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air. The new report finds that China rejected 26.1 percent of its wind and solar output in the first half of this year, far more than official figures would suggest. Other countries with large amounts of renewable energy are also dealing with wasted power. In India, clean power capacity just surpassed fossil fuel capacity for the first time, but transmission infrastructure has yet to catch up. On a single day in March, India wasted 34 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity, enough to power about 5 million homes, according to an analysis from the think tank Ember. The core of the problem, analysts said, “is a growing mismatch between the pace of renewable energy development and the readiness of the transmission infrastructure.”
  5. When we get the ultimate 'cane here, this will be the most popular video by far! @CoastalWx be like, "how can this happen?!"
  6. Game 3 tomorrow was moved up from 6pm to 1pm to try and avoid some of the weather issues.
  7. We just got power back on our street in Navarre. Many in our subdivision (one of the largest in the state) are not as fortunate. Places in the N part of Santa Rosa county will be waiting even longer. .
  8. there was also a huge wreck on 95 in Niantic on the way so I went 82 to 2
  9. yup, that's the one...lights came on, kids always love playing under the lights because it rarely happens, weather was awesome though, and my kid had a great couple games, not the best hitter but definitely one of the best defensive players.
  10. Cimalore Field in Westerly? My backyard literally growing up.
  11. It’s always been the theme…features look monstrous in the extended, only to come back to more normalized ideas as we close in.
  12. Still kind of nasty-55 instead of 48 and windy lol
  13. As usual. That’s like that with almost every feature. All summer other than the 4th weekend…the Heat underperformed. By tomorrow it’ll come back some…we know the see-saw affect.

  15. Mentioned yesterday or the day before .. I was suss about that magnitude. Seriously not being a dick but the reason that's important is because the models have a bias in amplitude with that type of wave space/propagation. It's doing it already ...what's happening in winter - Not sure if it is a specific model bias because they all seem to do this. Probably it's just chaos load balancing, in that they don't see the permutations of the future, so all they physically end up with out in time is a purified field of just a shorter logistic of events in handling. But in reality ...all those future distractions will be there eroding - i mean it's the only logic i can come up with that starts to explain that all but completely dependable bullshit amplitude bias at that mid/ext range
  16. Had a couple of good storms last night. One around midnight and another at 2 am. Had about a half inch of rain. The neighbor down the street had a large branch down in his front yard. A thunderclap scared one of my dogs so bad she peed in the bathroom. What a night.
