  2. Yes, I understand that baseline heights are greater.
  3. It does look like this El Niño is starting to blend into the pattern. But the trough which is generally located to the ENE of Japan is displaced further south. So at least a few areas will match the composite next week especially around Alaska and Western Canada which is better than what we have seen so far.

  5. Had 0.18" yesterday with 82/65 temp split. 0.02" overnight with low temp of 74°.
  6. For context, I live on <0.5 acres in a suburb, and have turned 75% of the (gross monochrome) lawnspace into a working flower farm and borderline food forest. In other words as close to a farm as you can get in a suburban neighborhood. My list of rodent pests grows longer each warm season. Groundhog have been quiet the past 2 seasons but I've recently had a juvenile take interest in hiding in my wheel-well whenever I spook it. Not sure if mom got possum'd or is just a bad parent. Meadow voles are well fed on whatever greens and subsurface tubers or bulbs or carrots they can find. Just glad the fuckers didn't touch my garlic. Voles are pretty plump, too. There isn't a square foot of woodchipped ground that isn't soft to the step due to their constant tunneling. Good soil, good bugs, fat voles. We can now add rats to the list. And we havent put kitchen scraps in the compost for years. Chicken food is in galvenized pales. But they're here. Neighbors are fighting them, too. I can coexist with the other critters so as long as they're not destroying things. Rats are code red. It's August and won't be long before they try making it indoors. If that happens I'm selling the house. Selling the family with it if they want to stay. Calling in the big guns. Neighborhood-wide effort is the only way to address something like this properly.
  7. You know what, yeah. I've been interested in mid month for something like that for a bit. Maybe that's still on track. I didn't even realize it at the time either, but all the models do have this wave train too. Will certainly be interesting to follow.
  8. Dews back 75/73 and 76/71 at the 2 closest stations

  15. You're going to love it out there. Wide open spaces to your east, mountains to your west. I loved my time living just north of Denver in Wyoming, the high plains chasing is unmatched! I am also set to be moving back west in less than 2 months to join the NWS at one of the offices out there.

  18. 74F for the low, almost 20F warmer than yesterday; one odd note there seems to be no dew out there on the deck furniture or railings, a little surprised by that

  23. I will definitely be doing some chasing out there! It’s actually a big part of why I’m moving, so I can be a short drive from the plains of eastern CO. They get some nasty supercells out there and a decent amount of tornadoes.
