  1. Past hour
  2. I really think they should have a short-fused high wind warning in these cases. Think about it, when ppl hear "svr tstm" they expect LTG/T and it to be rockin'. Just promotes distrust and apathy.
  3. You knew Jack in the early to mid 80’s. You were still eating your boogers then.

  5. It’s worth it just to witness the average snow weenie meltdown and the subsequent kicking the can down the road routine that’s become all too predictable around these parts. Plus who doesn’t like a warm, toasty Christmas morning with a bunch of loony relatives?
  6. They almost had the whole state of CT under a warning and little to no damage

  8. It seems over time, the size of warnings has grown, or they are issued earlier. Special marine warnings for Chesapeake Bay this evening, and the line of storms was 1 hr out. No OFB ahead yet either. People are only willing to take so much time out of their day. More is not always better. Say one day we can give a spinner warnings 1 hr ahead. So does that mean people need to go to their basement immediately? That is absurd. And say some do that, and nothing happens (which will for the majority), many will not be happy b/c it is a waste of time. For large venue locations w/ lots of people, yes longer lead times are better, but that the minority of the time.
  9. Snow weenies in the 80s had dry spells. Now it’s tstm dry spells. None of the good SVR in 90s and 00s. Just flaccid stuff:
  10. Talking about north of Virginia. So not the southeast. All of these were southeast strikes. Not the region I'm focused on. What if we just focus on the region north of Virginia which is what I'm focused on? Excellent analysis. It's not somehow It's a very real shift to the gulf coast and it's because of a stronger Bermuda high. Thanks Hazel and now 1846 always fascinated me. Also was Hugo the last time a Cat 4 hit the Carolinas? Didn't that used to be more common before? And wasnt there a hurricane in 1911 that followed a track similar to Sandy and hit Atlantic City? Was the 1846 hurricane a Cat 5? Even bigger than that would be the megatsunami that caused the formation of Chesapeake Bay it was caused by an asteroid that split into two parts the other part hit near Toms River NJ.
  11. Ehhh he was young still in the 80’s…didn’t understand much.
  12. 0.27" hopefully a bit more overnight
  13. I get that, but @CoastalWx has no excuse!
  14. Finally the coldest air of the season... even if it is transient.
  15. 0.23" See if there is another round later.
  16. High of 60.4. Down to 41.5 now. Sky has a snow look to it lol so hopefully we can produce something tonight/tomorrow.
  17. We were at Senior night in the driving rain! Haha. Always rains on Senior night. Temp dropped like a rock. Wind was howling. Nor'Easter signal showing up in the 2-3 week range both on the Euro Weeklies and 18z GFS. Monster block by the second half of November over HB. Could be zonal, but the storm track should be suppressed.
  18. The wind is starting to rip here. Temps are kind of crashing as well. Down to 55 degrees.
