  1. Past hour
  2. What's wrong w/ CoD? I haven't had any issues on the site recently.
  3. I received 0.35 inch last night but only 0.06 inch of rain today. Lots of thunder and lightning in both cases, but not much actual rainfall to show for it.
  4. It is training nearly stationary north of the beltway but is light to spotty moderate
  5. I believe a flood watch is it. If flash flooding materializes(or imminent), then a 'flash flood warning' is put into effect.
  6. Yes, indeed. The thought for my post post was inspired by yours.
  7. I’ll add again that I have no problem getting the new site to load on my iphone by choosing “request desktop site”. Make sure you aren’t on the Legacy link when you do it because that URL remains the old one.
  8. They’re gonna have bigger problems once the NCEP models cease. Rufus is nowhere to be seen on their site.
  9. Maybe read the discussion. The risk for heavy rain is in an urban area. Storm motions are slow. Doesn't have anything to do with lack of rainfall over last day or longer. IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.
  10. There's a ton of humidity in the region too.
  11. If I remember correctly, we do have someone here that was also at Griffiths air force base in Rome, New York, July 22 to 25 1999. That's as hot is i've ever been and probably ever will be. At this age my body would not be able to tolerate what we had to endure at that festival. 110°F+ on that endless tarmac from hell with almost no shade or working bathrooms for 4 days and hot nights. Looking back at it as an older adult, all the organizers for that festival should have been imprisoned. Water and food was nearly impossible to find, and the price for a bottle of water was over $13.00 and $15.00+ for a hot dog or a slice of pizza by day 3. It was a four day event during a heat wave that no one was allowed to bring food or drinks through .
  12. Radar looks like it is trying to fill in to my west; fingers crossed...
  13. You have never been a severe disappointment, because there never were any expectations. But we do have to put up with your drivel. That kid is the future on this forum. He is learning, enthusiastic, and his posts have improved significantly. Conversely, one wants to hear your tired ass shit.
  14. This heat wave came out of nowhere ... really hope it's not as hot as currently forecasted, ouch
  15. 103 would place us in the top 10 hottest days on record if we get to that point. It's very rare for the Harrisburg area to get over 103 degrees except for 3 days that were 104 and one day 107. Very impressive stuff.
  16. This is ludicrous. Agree or disagree. Don’t disparage. Wtf man.
  17. Will the Columbia split get closed?
  18. When's the last time parts of PA saw 100+ degree days 3 days in a row? I can't really think of a specific time that was that bad unless you go back decades ago
  19. Hey! You have a good point! SWE should have been SWA. ( Severe Weather Alerts) Thanks!!
  20. Say what you’re actually thinking.
  21. Today
  22. Oh I know the media is what it is and the business model. It doesn't do very good service to wx science and the like though. As mets/weenies though, we should care! Anything the atmosphere dishes out impressive no matter when or where is of significance. And we can convey that to ppl not mets or not in the know that things are not always what they seem. I have found many ppl suspect this or that about wx and can't get a straight or clear answers, and they have no idea who to ask or where to starts b/c the shear amounts of info out there and endless opinions and conjecture! Ppl like to be validated when they have practical suspicions or wonder a lot, and then hear something closer to the real deal.
  23. We know that Central Park likely maxes out at 98-99 under the forest canopy but LGA, EWR maybe even JFK if they keep westerly flow make it to 100. Ridge has also been trending east which is increasing the 850 temps.
  24. It's been dry so we probably add a couple degrees vs the heat last summer, plus we're in the same WNW flow regime that heats it up all the way to the shore and we add downslope help.
