Much less hot today we haven’t broken 94 yet. Mostly overcast and not as humid

RDU high a “much cooler” 96 today vs 103 yesterday.

Checking in from Alaska. We ended the winter with 77 inches of snow which was only 1 inch below average. Coldest winter in nearly 20 years. Coldest March on record. 4th coldest Spring on record. Snowiest January on record which made up for the snowless December. Highest wind gust ever recorded at Anchorage airport when we hit 75MPH back in December. December was a beast when it came to these back to back destructive Matansuka Valley wind events.

I'm seeing a lot of photos and videos from Waycross, GA today on Facebook of significant damage from that thunderstorm earlier today. No warning was on it and multiple people are saying it was absolutely a tornado. That or a microburst.

Interesting video from the storm below.

Was in Brier Creek this afternoon and it rained enough at the intersection of BC Pkwy and Glenwood to wet the road and had to use my wipers twice, but a mile away bone dry. Thought something may pop this evening but no dice.  onto another hot one sunday.

A surprise storm came through this morning dumping a quarter inch, wish I didn't run my sprinkler at 4am:huh:. Sun is coming out. Steamy already. Nascar at 1 while floating in the pool today!

I thought for sure last night that cell coming from chapel hill would get western wake but alas nothing!

One bright side with the drought is that I don’t think I’ve had to kill a mosquito yet this year. From that perspective it’s been really awesome :gun_bandana:

Maybe some interest with this tool from the NC Climate Office.  https://products.climate.ncsu.edu/weather/station-reviewer/

Used Mt Mitchell State Park as an example.  https://products.climate.ncsu.edu/weather/station-reviewer/?station=MITC&period=YTDscreenshot-1781438358516.thumb.png.a8607a9e09d759ebc7ee1f76e5af20e4.png

Nice link, great info for the various stations. Bookmarked it for sure./

Thanks

Storms sliding to my North by a few miles. If that one cell in northern chatham county holds together it may clip me or die out which is more likely.

In other news, another new record at RDU today of 101*.   Just baking here

I’ve literally lost faith that it will ever rain again. Beltline, pouring. Here? Yea right

High of 99 at 3:09pm. We're in the same stranded boat but I can't help but laugh at this point, there's nothing else to do.
