Running warmer in Greeneville so far. 37 on my station. I'm glad we had such a frigid week to keep ground in check. I won't be too concerned short term unless we go over 40.

Radar really lighting up over Kingsport. Models had slowed the onset down toward 7-10pm. but this may be ahead of schedule. The models do have a lull this afternoon before the real forcing begins.

I was sitting here w/ the sun shining through the clouds, and noticed the sun disappear....started snowing almost immediately after.  I have seen that happen only a few times...once out West.

The sun never came out in Farragut. Been working on a white pine that came down from last weekend’s event and would’ve liked some of that.

Here we go! Roads will get slick in Chattanooga late tonight and Saturday morning. probably not as bad as 2014 since we are not as cold. I like the rest of the MRX snow chart too.

Low to pushing mid 40's along Main Avenue in Erwin.  I think temps collapse nicely this evening, but I wasn't expecting to see 40 at all.  Thought the cloud deck would move over and hold us to the mid 30s

Ol’ Matt has a Snowquest thread going.  About an hour ago, he posted that snow totals were coming down in and around Knox.  Not sure where’s he seeing that unless he’s looking at the NAM.  Everything else has been consistent.  I know he’s apparently a meteorologist which made me wonder what he’s looking at.

Yep super shallow warm layer right at the surface. My temp is already down a degree from 40 to 39 in the last 5min.

Not to say anything like this is going to happen, but I remember one event or rather non-event when I lived in Athens.  We had super cold air, i think it was a week or so before we got the big sleet storm.  We had a Winter storm warning out for multiple inches of dry snow. That morning I woke up and watched Bill Race, and he was saying it would not be long until the snow saturated the air, and we would be getting snow at a good rate.  I remember looking out and seeing a snowflake fall and thought it's starting.  It was the only flake I saw all day. We ended up getting zilch. It was the biggest bust I can remember.
