I get that, but when it gets close, it makes it impossible to read.  Like @buckeyefan1 said, it's been a minute since we've needed one of these, but with this much model agreement and so much winter wx coverage of multiple SE states, its probably needed.

I ALREADY do not like how we are hanging on to the very southern edge of this next one......Missed it by 10 miles to the north on the last. Im already stepping towards the edge!

Im not sold on anything more than cold rain for roughly I-20 southward at this point. Feels too much like chasing cold that never materializes like modeled.

I dunno, if we got the (surely overdone?) 2+ inches of ice on some of these models, I think I'd rather take the cold rain, especially if it misses us and ices out my employer further north...

At this point, I'd take cold rain over some of the freezing rain modeled. Cliff diving will be reserved for an historic ice storm, not a miss.

I wonder if there's value in having a prep thread for this system. I know if you're reading this board, even as a layman like me, you probably have a better idea than most about what to expect.

But this is probably going to be a long event without power in the cold for a swath of people who have no other heat source, and may not have the amassed clothing and other accoutrement, to say nothing of experience, to deal with it. Even lurkers here might benefit from a common sense list of things to think about.

If the ice arrives as progged it could be DAYS without power. Im not concerned as Ive got wood and a real fireplace, but heating is the only real issue around here. Food can sit in the garage or on the patio with these temps

and probably not ruin. The Ice is not something we deal with down here and if we get even a half an inch it will be devastating, particularly if its over such a wide area. The other danger is trees around the house. Ive got a few large

Pines in front, but they are very healthy and mostly straight.   Get enough Ice load and a little wind and that wont mean much.

Yeah, we will all be sleeping downstairs during this event, unless the expected mix line ends up way south of us.

This is storm related but not storm thread material.  The Lowes in Kernersville has the heaters and generators stacked up front and they are flying off the shelves.  Get one today or risk shivering!  Grocery stores will be bombed by tomorrow night.

I am nostalgic for the old days when I’d check the newspaper or the local evening news once a day, and here I am on Tuesday checking the latest by hour and minute, multiple sources, for something thats not supposed to happen until Saturday.  It’s excruciating, but, we have no choice these days.  I guess good problem to have!
