Made it to 38.7 today but the staying power of this 1/2” sleet is impressive. Almost no additional melting today and all shaded roads still covered. 3 days of coverage in the backyard from 1/2” sleet is a solid performance from the pack lol

There's definitely gonna be some north-facing slopes and parking lot mounds that will make it to the Friday night snow.

We’ve been significantly above forecast lows last couple mornings. Bottomed out at 25.5 yesterday (forecast was 20) and are stuck at 25.2 right now (forecast was 18). Made it to 39.2 yesterday

Ended up falling to 21.2 this morning and topped out at 34.6 this afternoon

This ongoing cold wave has erased the big above normal departures of the first half of January IMG-0891.png

That’s actually insane. So many will finish December and January below normal and we’re on our 3rd (some 4th) accumulating snow event with two or three flurries thrown in. I think the next 3 days will decide how this winter is remembered but dang, that’s not a bad stat line

Yep, except for BAM, I didn’t see anyone who predicted a below normal January

What an ending to January. High was just after midnight at 30 and our low is 19, our current temp. We have 8 to 10 inches of snow on the ground with 2 to 3 foot drifts. More snow on the way.

Monthly stats:

Highest temp: 75

Lowest temp: 18

Highest dew point: 68

Lowest dew point: 6

Rainfall: 1.9"

Snowfall: To be determined. Probably an easy 10" with more after midnight.

Amazingly, I think we have a shot at a rare Dec-Jan-Feb hat trick below average.

I remember getting 24" of snow in Ontario in early April 1975 followed by several days of clear, cold weather with a similar sun angle to what you have there now ... we had a daily freeze-thaw cycle and the snow drifts froze solid, couldn't move them at all. That snow never melted, it just sublimated over ten days until most of it was gone. It was bone dry all through that period. Maybe you will see something similar, the snow just gradually disappearing with little or no runoff to the water table.
