Central PA Winter 25/26 Discussion and Obs

Showers this morning with a morning high in the upper 40's but after a cold front swings through near noon temperatures will fall and winds will increase. A Wind Advisory is in effect from 10am today through 1pm tomorrow. We should reach freezing by around 5pm this evening. Once we fall below freezing we may not see above freezing temperatures again for the rest of the year. We look dry for the rest of the week except for a slight chance of some snow flurries on New Year's Eve. Of note we will finish around 6 degrees below normal here for December 2025 and it will be the 2nd coldest December here in East Nantmeal in the 23 years I have been recording observations - behind only 2010.

Well, we managed to creep up to 36 degrees, but I'm not sure if we'll crack 40 or not. Either way, I'm not looking forward to the wind this afternoon. Last wind event had me all screwed up with trees and wires down, and a tight detour, before I was told to use the turnpike.

46.1 mph is the high gust so far on my gauge at home, which is already higher than anything it got from the other Friday’s high wind warning.

For high gusts so far at official stations I’m seeing 54mph at MDT, 56mph at CXY, 50mph at AOO, 45mph at UNV, 64mph at JST, 62mph at LBE and 58mph at DUJ

Good day to watch the barometric pressure - currently way down there at 29.34" and falling slowly. No wind, 49.7 degrees.

That’s right around where I bottomed out about 7-8am this morning (about 993.2mb). Up to almost 999mb now.

Powers out. 59 highest gust so far - but tons in the 50s. These gusts are lasting 15-20 secs too.

I hit 49 for a high, now at 45. Gorgeous Sky overhead.

Still have power here...for now.

The winds this afternoon picked up and deposited one of our Adirondack chairs into our fire pit. This chair is one of the "real" chairs that weighs a ton. No wind event previously has done that.
