Jns2183 Posted yesterday at 11:34 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:34 AM I do love October storms like this. Definitely going to sleep tonight with an open window so I can wake up the breezy heavy rain bands. The only thing better would to have winds Friday at the same time as the rains. I have multiple family members in Massachusetts and have had the pleasure of experiencing big noreasters in Gloucester, South Shore, and central Highlands. Only rainstorms unfortunately but man oh man. Having 40+mph sustained winds for 36 hours in a house a few miles from the ocean was beautiful. You could taste the ocean on that northeast wind. Combined with torrential rain, the sounds that a house from the 1850's makes in a storm like that, a big fireplace, good hearty soup, rye whiskey, and a home bar with 3 taps had me wanting never to leave. I wish we could experience more of the rain/wind combo here at least. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
ChescoWx Posted yesterday at 11:55 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 11:55 AM We continue our stretch of chillier than normal weather with our 9th straight day with below normal temperatures. The beneficial rainstorm is still on track to arrive overnight tonight and continue well into tomorrow night. The NWS has much of the area receiving 1.5" to 2.0" of needed rain. Tomorrow looks to be the warmest day of the week with temperatures maybe a couple of degrees above average with highs well up into the 50's to near 60 degrees. We turn chillier again over the weekend but dry.
mahantango#1 Posted yesterday at 11:56 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:56 AM With the projected heavy rain at times and wind gusts projected on some of the models of 40+ we should have a substantial leaf drop till Saturday. 1

A nice rain event for tonight through tomorrow and then cold and windy for trick or treat night ugh. Yeah...looking at qpf maps currently and I'd say this is a Susquehanna Special. We need it, and welcome it.

ChescoWx Posted yesterday at 12:46 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 12:46 PM Today back in 2011 Chester County experienced our greatest October snowstorm on record with as much as 9 inches of snow falling across the area. 6

Get firewood in and ready. smart minds..... That trip was a fisherman's stew with fresh seafood from Turners Seafood Market. My uncle had drafts of Stella, some new England IPA, and Guinness (full nitrous setup!). My brother and I brought Oban and Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye Others brought appetizers, wine, beer, etc. it was Wednesday November 7, 2012. We were up that week to help out other family in Connecticut recovery from Sandy and on a whim my aunt and uncle had everyone over that was up helping that week. Everyone, all 16 of us, soon abandoned any pretense of traveling the few hours back and we went hard till midnight we all slept on the floor with blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, 3 dogs, 2 cats, a roaring fire, and storm shaking the house hard. One of those amazing nights that edge in ones memory since it seemed preordained with how it came together. Jns2183
I have questions regarding this 3 hour flash flood guidance. The demarcation seems very close to the river basins. Are The drastic differences caused purely by recent rainfall amounts, or is the basin itself playing some role?Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

mahantango#1
With 2 days of low temps in the mid 20s I thought it would kill my Petunias. It didn't. I also thought it would kill the yellow jackets, but it didn't . I killed a yellow jacket yesterday and today with the fly swatter both were the German yellow jackets. Jns2183
Currently 3/5 the way through a wonderful 5 mile jaunt. I can almost smell that rain with every uptick of a slowly building breeze. These showers are hauling ass and seem to hit with a nice gust front. Hopefully that is a good omen for the morning bands. A nice firehouse from the Atlantic or Chesapeake would hit like a lottery jackpot this year. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

Mount Joy Snowman
My low actually bottomed out at 41 early this morning, a drop of four degrees from the 45 I reported when leaving the house shortly after 6am. Impressive. The sweet sound of rain in the gutters, aaahhhh, night all.
Jns2183
Radar looks great for a really beneficial long rain event I appreciate this so much more after our July, August, September. I laugh at my naivete back in 2019-2020 thinking the previous decade of insane moisture would not abate. The short term models show a beautiful band from ocean city Maryland to here combining with a more north south orientation band causing a nice blowup of intensity around rush hourSent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
