Maggie Valley Steve
Looks like our upper trough that will develop into a closed upper low is progressing nicely. That trough is currently located over Illinois dropping S. The shortwave to the W is dropping quickly through the Rockies. There are several surface waves riding along the Gulf Coast as well. I'm seeing signs of frontogenesis over Eastern Tennessee with rising clouds. Locally, some lower clouds are developing over the ridge tops. It is probably another 3 to 4 hours before flurries begin.
Tyler Penland
Kinda lost in all this but there is a very real chance Charleston sets their all time low 500mb heights with this storm. NAM drops to 522dam their current record is 527dam from 12/13/2010.

Hvward
Nam3km is a hammer job for all of WNC. Pretty sure we can lock this one in. I don't see any model showing less than 5"-6" for most all of us. Still going as well this is through hr 24.

Boonelight
Patchy sun and 26.6º here in the Gap, waiting to see what we get out of this! No snow on the eastern side of Watauga yet. Never seen this before, but it could very well be the first time everyone in my family sees snow at the same time. I'm in Boone, Dad is in Lancaster, daughter is in Columbia, and my brother is in Charleston! Definitely the only time we have all been under a winter storm warning at the same time! Gonna be wild! Oh, anybody got any ice melt?

Met1985
Honestly at this point the models can suck it. It's time to look at the radar returns and what you've got outside. Time to go from model watching to obs watching. We've tracked the heck out of this thing. Now it's time to track how many inches we are getting. Good luck to all. This is one of the best setups we've seen in years Honestly. If you live a busy life then slow down this weekend and enjoy your hobby. 6
