Coldest air of the Fall Season so far ahead for early Friday morning. My 8 to 10 day long range forecast is depicting snow next Thursday and Halloween. If the model trends hold into early next week, we may have a legitimate chance of at least some up slope snow. We will see what if any influence Melissa and a potent upper low dropping out of Canada bring regarding our sensible weather.

Going to be a raw week with highs in the 40s most of the week with rain. Also I still like our chances for high elevation snow towards the end of the week.

Yeah. Possibly measurable snow higher eles. May be even some flakes reach Valley floors if enough caa or heavy precip rates pulls cold air down from aloft.

42 and rain this morning. It's going to be an interesting week weather wise. Thursday night into Friday morning we should be under the influence of a potent cold core upper low. Temperatures look marginal at this range, but surprises often occur in a transitioning pattern. I continue to see additional changes towards a colder regime and periods of unsettled weather.

Oh, and they have started making a snow mound at Tube World last week. Tis the season!

Driving from Marion to Asheville was white knuckle for sure. Bad accident in Buncombe and a sheet of water coming down Old Fort mountain. Each time they pave the interstate and redo the center barrier. it does nothing to help with drainage. One of the worst places to hydroplane in the middle of a curve coming down a steep mountain...

The latest EC46 showing a significant deceleration of the stratospheric vortex as we progress through November with a small cluster showing a major stratospheric warming early December.

The models at long range want to strengthen the PV but it never fully does. I still don't think it does and this will lead to better blocking down the road hopefully for our area. 20251027_185831.jpg
