This is highly highly disturbing

Hundreds of documents show how researchers failed to notify officials in California about a test of technology to block the sun’s rays — while they planned a much huger sequel.

People that want to dim the sun should like the smoke, but yet all they do is complain about it.  Frauds

to be fair, I'd much rather lower the amount of water vapor in the air (before it reaches the saturation point and causes floods) and turn it into drinking water, that would have multiple benefits.

You wouldn't even notice the dimming bud, sort of like the way you pretend you don't notice climate change either.

Breaking: the Chinese are performing a MASSIVE atmospheric experiment by releasing 15 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases annually, never notified Americans!

Click below to find out more!

And you're worried about a small water vapor cloud lol

There are some thoughts that there would be a slight haze to the air from the particulate matter being in the sky, but that's about it.

It would be a stratospheric injection, @FPizz acts like it will look like Delhi, India circa 1990.

Yeah nothing like that, actually India still has that dirty air and it causes migraines.

They are setting up massive air filters to try and get rid of it.

Also setting limits on how many cars can be on the road at one time.

One of the positives of the pandemic was a lowering in air pollution rates.

No one should be fooling with stuff like this

Wtf. Dimming is okay with you...wow

Of course it is. The world was doing that for almost all of the industrial age.

Did you have a problem with it then?

You only have a problem with only the type of pollution you can see?

i think you just need to start getting yourself acclimated to hot summers

I can get used to hotter summers.

I won't ever get used to dewpoints averaging 75 to 80.

I also don't want evapotranspiration exacerbating droughts, also allowing pests to better kill trees, having worse wildfires, having more intense monster rainfalls, etc.

There has to be an endpoint to the warming. We can't just let this keep happening perpetually.

I have zero hope we can get the rest of the world on board regarding getting rid of greenhouse gases.

So since they can pollute unilaterally then we can do annual stratospheric aerosol injections unilaterally.

I think in the end shit will get so bad that we wind up doing the injections anyway, just 30 or 40 years down the road.

we are going to start geoengineering in short order

it's been happening for hundreds of years anyway

I think dimming is the wrong word to use, it makes it seem like we are going to eclipse the sun with a giant satellite lol

Called it decades ago. Official response: deny, deny, downplay, inaction - "oh actually it is warming, but we can solve it by blocking out 5% of the sun." Oh, to top it off, we won't even bother telling the peasants! Wouldn't want the residents of Winnipeg, Yellow Knife or Fairbanks getting uppity about the loss of their precious sunlight.

also it totally disregards a million other effects on ecology, small and large

Yea I love how everyone just acts like pumping out hundreds of billions of metric tons of greenhouse gases is NOT geoengineering lolol

it goes along with all the other forms of geoengineering like usage of toxic pesticides that is driving the mass extinction of vital pollinators.

Not only that, other creatures have been geoengineering for billions of years-- blue green algae (photosynthetic bacteria) changed the composition of our atmosphere to make it hospitable for us to exist.
