East of Lake Erie...some models move the band well into the
Northtowns while others place it toward Metro Buffalo Friday
afternoon. Regardless, the coldest airmass should pass overhead
Friday evening and mark the period for the heaviest and most intense
lake effect snow, where 2"/hr and thundersnow will be a possibility
into Friday night as the band settles a little to the south
overnight.
As a result, there`s still quite a bit of uncertainty to
both the start time and placement of lake effect snow.
With concerns noted above, the watch will stand for now until
there`s more confidence in timing and placement along with
corresponding snow amounts.

That band is consolidating into a pretty thick band. Going to run from the city all the way to Eden.

The inland portion of the band is on the move north and quick!  The past few hours it had the SW orientation along the lake shore but then it was taking that sharp right hand turn into Southern Erie.  Looks like that convergence zone that was causing that bend is letting up as the shortwave digs in and is now going to let the band run smack up into the south side of the city.  The additional bump from the added moisture I would suspect could blow this band up big time once it’s gets fully aligned down the lake in the next 60-90 minutes...

Interesting radar depiction. Almost has the look of a meso low over the lake.

It’s weird, on the west end of Erie and also south of Huron, you can clearly see radar signals moving nearly due south while the band is oriented SW to NE. Almost perpendicular. Obviously, different levels. It’s surprising that shear isn’t tearing the band apart- but it’s not.

Band is lifting north as we speak, a few miles from my house now. The only part that surprises me is how sheared it looks due to high winds.

There seems to be a SW going through and it’s affecting the band. I’m not certain this really ever gets it’s act together...seems to be slit if interfering from nearby snow showers out over the Niagara peninsula. Best we might do up here is lake enhancement with the SW passing

A little bit sheared, but that thing is ripping.
