pondo1000
Yep, I'm at my office in Otterbein and the ground is already whitening up 10 minutes into this pounding. Nada here in Powell. It snowed for like 10-15 mins a little while ago but nothing to show for it.
buckeye
Nada here in Powell. It snowed for like 10-15 mins a little while ago but nothing to show for it. that's crazy. It's dark almost like during a tstorm, snowing like hell and I keep waiting to hear a clap of thunder lol. Too bad it's only gonna last a few more minutes. Has to be easily over 2 inch an hour rate. buckeye
And just like that...it's gone. Looks like almost an inch out there. yea that was an impressive squall. You get one of those to get stuck in the pivot point for a few hours I could easily see how those lollipop 6" amounts could occur for someone. OHweather
We're getting impressively large graupel here. Temp had snuck above 40 before it moved in.

The issue is that it is very scattered.
OHweather
Actually I went outside, there was some graupel but the majority was small hail. Covered the ground a bit

buckeye
Enjoy it for a few minutes. I got almost 2 earlier and as soon as the band passed every bit of it melted within an hour. Crazy. I wouldn't expect any staying power on these until night fall, along with the temp drop off. Pretty much mid to upper 30's over most of the state right now. Almost looks like the sun is trying to pop right now.

HighTechEE
I want what ILN is smoking! 3-5" for some counties (including Greene for me), then 1-2 counties away an inch or less for tomorrow? Also some SW Ohio counties getting 3-5" overnight tonight and only sn showers tomorrow? what are they thinking, massive narrow fetch off of Lake Mich or what? OHweather
I'm starting to feel this one for me. Steep lapse rates through a very steep layer, good low level frontogenesis and forcing for quite a while tonight into tomorrow morning, and a vort max swinging through. My call for here is 2-4" but I think there are local lollis to 6". The best may just be to my north but it'll be close.
vespasian70
Looks like tonight will mainly be a miss to the south. Apparently the CMH snowshield is working just fine.

Everything is setting up one county south. What a shocker. Not at all impressed with anything about this, but that is par for the course this winter. OHweather
If that little squall I got is any indication, it may be a fun night here. Poured silver dollar sized flakes for about 10 minutes and quickly coated everything...bigger squalls moving in from the west. I'm mildly concerned the best sets up just north of me but it will be close, lots of snow to the west.

Not at all impressed with anything about this, but that is par for the course this winter. In fairness, this is really not a storm. This is winter's version of the Powerball lottery. And just like those who buy lotto tickets, if you're expecting to win, you're just asking for disappointment.

And just like those who buy lotto tickets, if you're expecting to win, you're just asking for disappointment. Of course the setup is not exactly traditional. You just have to laugh because it really doesn't matter what the setup has been. Certain winters are like this, where you can't buy snow, but locations all around are doing better. It's worse because this isn't like some years, 2001-2002 or 2011-2012 come to mind, where just about everyone did badly. This is not one of those years. And no, I would not bet on the 2-4" forecast tomorrow.
