something must be wrong with the TTN rain gauge.....

Actually... I think its a more complex issue.  Not long ago (a few months) a new algorithm was introduced into ASOS, designed to eliminate false precipitation readings by cross-checking with the present weather sensor.  Unfortunately, the TTN present weather sensor has been off-line for some time (since late last week).  I'm sure the Mt. Holly techs have their hands fully trying to fix the radar, but I have forwarded my thoughts and evidence of the problem to the ASOS folks at HQ to see if they can alter the algorithm to counter for a non-functional present weather sensor.

Just was in the most intense T-Strorm/Hail event that I can remember...Had shut down power to PC,,so about 15 mins have passed and we still have coverings at spots...Some of the hail were nearly perfectly round, largest was about the same size as a large marble...I can smell the aroma from snapped fir branches ....came up very quick from nice sunny, not hot to boom!!!

Looks like golf ball size hail in some areas of Berks County. lots of damaged vehicles. Even covered the ground in spots. You could hear the wind and rain a couple of minutes before it actually happened.

Just experienced a massive hail storm at Penn State Berks. The ground has been completely covered, most stones were golf ball sized up to baseball size (at the extreme large end). Several car windows broken, everyone has dents. My car has about eighty dents in the hood two large cracks on the windshield damage on the mirrors and lights. One of the Acura badges fell of the back.  :o post-7520-0-79431600-1400789248_thumb.jppost-7520-0-12669800-1400789244_thumb.jppost-7520-0-82613600-1400789233_thumb.jppost-7520-0-07712100-1400789240_thumb.jp
