  1. and in the 60's and 70's. There were less nut jobs back then than now, but it was still a concern
  2. In Methuen the kids must get enough candy to last well into retirement: Last night at the hs football game there was a Trunk N Treat event. Tomorrow The Loop(outdoor mall) has its trick or treating On Halloween Trick or Treating is from 5-7 but usually kids start showing up around 430 ish....usually accompanied by every adult in their family.
  3. Last year we had more than 175 Trick or Treaters stop by the palatial estate in Methuen....I swear they were parachuting into the neighborhood
  4. The upcoming warm weather pattern is already getting to you...
  5. Until I read your post I never realized that Tolland is in the Dominican Republic..enjoy!!!
  6. Well 2 epic storms but I'd take other winters over that winter.
  7. It is a terrific book! I highly recommend it
  8. We can start a GoFundMe account to raise money for ORH to take a year off from work to write the book!
  9. Are you familiar with the book So Cold A Sky? It is a weather history book of the Michigan UP. The format of the book would be ideal for a SNE and/or Worcester weather history book.
  10. Do you know of any books that have chronicled Worcester's weather history?
  11. Dry run for christmas day when it will be in the 20's and 30's in Tallahassee while it is 65 and humid in boston
  12. The storm featured the sharpest rain/snow line I have ever seen. The line was about 1/4 of a mile from my house. On one side of the line it was heavy rain, other side of the line heavy snow. Within 50-100 yards it went from bare ground to 2 inches of snow on the ground. Thankfully the rain/snow line continued to make progress.
  13. ..but you are not a meteorologist with an audience to build on
  14. It is near impossible to make a counter argument to the bolded.
  15. Any meteorologist with a website, Facebook page, or twitter handle realizes many weather enthusiasts are fans of winter weather. In order to generate "traffic" it is best to target that audience. .."East is in for a brutal winter"....that will drive the weather enthusiasts and the non weather enthusiasts to the site......as opposed to "East is in store for a very mild winter"... Right now if you went to the SNE subforum and you posted a forecast calling for a mild and dry winter....well your forecast would be "poo pooed"...BUT if you posted something like " I think New England is in store for a severe winter".....your post would receive numerous positive comments and likes..
  16. As the old saying goes" People hear want they want to hear"
  17. Similar to "hot takes" for sports websites..
  18. coming out with a forecast that calls for a warm and dry winter doesn't generate website hits and subscriptions...
  19. true but that is the preliminary forecast...real forecast comes out soon
