And many cities/towns have watering restrictions which limit the amount of watering that can be done. I know people who have had their wells run dry and they have not been watering their lawns. I also know a few people who are having water delivered to preserve their wells. A lot of people do take great pride in their property/home. As you know repairing extensive lawn damage can be expensive. And even in the best of situations it may not work all that well. I agree with you on it being important to some people.

JB and Cranky are in different camps. JB thinks a cat 4 is possible. Cranky thinks the potential is capped and will remain a Cat 2.

Depends on how much money you want to spend for a nice looking lawn. Personally I'd rather invest the money in something that I need or want to do. My lawn is decent. A neighbor down the street has a great looking lawn but his water bill is huge. Plus he uses a lot of different chemicals on his lawn which is another major expense. The fascination with lawns is an obsession with some people. A former neighbor would spend hours working on his lawn. His lawn looked better than augusta! He moved out about 15 years ago. A couple of years later he came back to visit. He was appalled at the condition of the lawn at his former home.
