  1. Larry Cosgrove, in one of his recent newsletter mentioned something along the lines of taking GW into account when making a long range forecast.
  2. Seems that way lol Do you think in some form it takes into account GW?
  3. The last 2 springs he has mentioned that people on twitter were calling for an 1816 repeat. He has yet to produce a single tweet from a credible source.
  4. Biting cold is when your teeth are chattering so badly from the cold that it makes you want to bite someone.
  5. According to the NWS Twitter account, the 81 ties for the 2nd all time warmest low temp.
  6. When was the last winter that averaged 3 degrees below normal in your area?
  7. If the AO/NAO was currently negative many people here would be touting it as a good sign for the upcoming winter. The vast majority of people here want a cold and snowy winter. As I do. The difference is that I like to consider all things which may influence the winter. There is no denying that the positive AO/NAO has played a significant role in the heat this summer. And time will tell if the AO/NAO remains as strongly positive as we approach the late fall and winter.
  8. I agree with you. Sooner or later the "gamble" is going to go bust.
  9. Are you completely disregarding the current state of the AO/NAO?
  10. I knew you would be leaning towards cold and snowy lol
  11. So essentially they are calling for normal to below normal cold for much of the country. I did not realize JB has a side gig.
  12. I never said I trusted the FA forecast. All I said was that I am assuming the FA thinks the AO/NAO is going to remain strongly positive. Right now based on what is happening, and what has happened for the last several months, and the forecast for the both the short term and long term, would you bet on cold and snowy or mild conditions for the winter?
  13. I'm assuming they are expecting the AO/NAO to stay strongly positive.
  14. Over the course of the last 20 or so years the vast majority of daily min(record low high) and max highs have been set on the "warm" side. And just like with a stock chart there is a causal effect. And the best bet is GW is causing it.
  15. I agree with you regarding Septembers at 1 time having a good mix of summer and fall. Clearly GW has taken root in New England.
  16. I understand. I'm not all that far from LWM. I wonder where the ASOS is situated.
  17. Just another reason(the soon to be posted heat advisories) why school should not start until after Labor Day. Lawrence has 1/2 days 8/27-8/30. And no pre school all week.
  18. Sept was a fall month in years of yore but not any longer. Now that his official end of summer(Aug 31st) is in sight he's getting nervous because the heat appears as if it is going to linger well into the fall. Who knows, perhaps Mt Toolland will be green all winter long.
  19. Many years ago the café at work offered a hot dog special on Mondays....2 hot dogs, fries and a drink. A woman at work would order 2 of the specials....4 dogs,2 fries and 2 diet cokes.....
  20. As recently as a month ago JB was tweeting about the snow/ice increase in Greenland.
  21. Or you can plant different flowers each year to change the look of it. Another idea is to make it a "seasonal" area. In other words during the fall have it have a fall theme, during Christmas have it be xmas theme. Actually the area looks like an ideal spot to have a "haunted graveyard" during the Halloween season.
