How are they triggered?
-
not triggered,just having a discussion..

I recall you mentioning 12 inches......I'll still take that storm over this entire disaster of a non winter.
-
I am absolutely bewildered how you measured only a foot from the 1/29 storm. I measured 16.5. I took several measurements over the course of the storm. Methuen didn't jackpot but that storm was far better than any storm this winter.
-
for the most part spring and summer are 2 dull seasons...
-
This winter has sucked every way imaginable. It is not even been a winter. I'll pass 24/7/365 on experiencing another La Nina anytime soon. The die for this winter was cast last fall.
-
I'll take last winter over this winter. This has been an historically awful winter.
-

I'll take my chances with a La/EL Nothing...people hoping for an El Nino next winter are playing with "fire"... -
For much of the eastern 1/3 of the country it has been a non winter.

I'm hoping for a La/EL Nothing next winter.....with that said bet on the strongest EL Nino ever...

Where have all the cowboys (I mean clippers) gone?
Great Snow 1717 replied to Hoosier's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
One thing that may be playing a role is the lack of cold fronts. Fewer cold fronts lead to fewer clippers. Also the dividing line between cool/cold air and mild/warm air is further north leading to storms developing further north. Often times the "Montreal Express" was introduced by a clipper system. Now that rarely happens. -
Either that or take the December Winter Train to Virginia and North Carolina!

The Chinese shot the storm out of the sky in retaliation for shooting the balloon down...
