  1. Fits with the default pattern of the 2010s. It’s close the shades for a couple weeks at least.
  2. It’s the depreciation. The second you drive off the lot it’s like throwing dozens of hundred dollar bills out the window
  3. Not a shocker there, the guys beyond brilliant. About as benign a weather pattern as you will see, incoming. At least we aren’t wasting cold air with no precip. That, I’m ok with
  4. Just had another .5” with the last batch on the uws so 1” on the day. Had some cool grapul earlier too, definitely convective snow showers
  5. Nice, looks like more then the uws. About .25-.5” here
  6. That was nuts on the uws, on par with last winter
  7. That’s one of the better squalls we have seen in a while, maybe not as strong as the one last winter, but solid.
  8. There are cars here on the uws entombed in ice. Pretty cool to see!
  9. If we can get the storm track right at some point later in the winter we can easily reach snow fall averages in a hurry.
  10. Yep, I’m putting in a few years building my resume here and then the plan is to move to a college in New England and run their grounds department and snow removal. Tons of schools up there that need a head of grounds. I’m so over New York City, I’d rather drive to work With no traffic from my 40 acre house.
  11. Had the same thing in wantagh surprisingly. Temp held at 31.8 for hours. Even cars were completely iced over. Makes sense for you up there but it was completely unexpected on the south shore
  12. Temps are rising on the island so I would assume you will too. WWAs advisory for freezing rain (warranted overnight) were just issued for the island just in time for the temp to crack freezing. Most significant ice even in wantagh for several years with trees sagging
  13. Still 31.8 in wantagh on the south shore, glaze On trees and colder surfaces.
  14. 31.8 at the wantagh meso right now as well. Glaze on trees and cars! I was not expecting that here at all!!!!’
  15. Your going to have to go 2 hours north of the city for a nice snow storm with this one, 80s style. I do not think anyone wants a crippling ice storm or mid 30s and heavy rain that we going to see south of there.
  16. I’m in the NW corner of Manhattan with a little elevation. I have seen time and time again In these marginal setups this area behave more like the near Nw burbs then the rest of the city. We shall see how this one does, but using the forecast for the city for this area will get you burned
  17. This has been exactly my fear all day. The rest of my snow removal crew jumped ship because they think this is going to be nothing.
  18. Wow look at those super cells in Kentucky. This things juiced
  19. It’s sleet I’m worried about, sleet accumulates more efficiently then any other form of frozen precip. If we get a couple hours of sleet in the northern city this could end up an impactful event!
  20. It’s non stop with even a hint of wintery precip. I guess they aren’t concerned about killing already stressed street trees. I’m going to start taking salt accumulation obs here on the uws.
  21. Looks like one hell of a soaker on the way overnight. That’s an impressive moisture feed
  22. That was 97/98. Some pretty strong nor’easters that winter that we’re all rain. The key that winter was a super nino. I’m a really big fan of pattern recognition and I fully expect some winter cancel calls as we head past the new year. Mid January through mid February has always been my thoughts for the sweet spot. Hard to go against peak snow climo for a multitude of reasons.
