  1. Blow boats....always cutting my fluke drifts....:) seriously though, have you ever seen so much evil wind as this fall?
  2. Get him and Pulisic on the same page and drop the current coach, and dump the old timers, and i think the US team will be back on track after a few dismal years.
  3. So i checked, just shy of 3 inches. After snowing since about noon! And most of that fell before 4 pm...
  4. I think that's possible Anthony; I think I have 3 now on car surface; my son hasn't been out all day ( Rutgers cancled classes ) and it looks like 3
  5. Ok that's funny. But maybe not totally untrue....there have been some real characters here over the years, remember that Pam person?
  6. off topic, have you seen that kid Dest from Holland who chose the USA team? I love it, but the kid really could have played for Oranj, and maybe won an actual WC....
  7. I'm under that small band right now going through SI into NJ.
  8. No ripping here, but steady light snow. Picked up about half an inch over 3 hours. A good band or two would do it for us over here.
  9. oh okay....we should move it to banter. Not much else going on with the storm for a lot of us.
  10. There are plenty of jobs out there that offer no serious benefits, lots of "contract' work. I get emails daily from agencies who want me to do in home therapy as a "consultant" this is not a bad gig for a retiree who wants to keep active, but it is not a good job for a young person with a masters or even doctorate with student loans and no health insurance....
  11. hard to do when you have 31 years into a pension. When i retire I will get those same benefits for free. New hires will not.
  12. Wow that makes my 2-3 look epic. Well we'll get another shot I'm sure. Not even calendar winter yet.
  13. Yeah I'm telling young people who want to work as teachers and whatnot to go to NY. NJ has no respect for public employees; their pensions have been stolen and they are paying through the nose for health coverage ( 12k a year just for me ).
  14. Do they still allow you to work in your own neighborhood after so many years? That was the story back in the 80's.
  15. Glancing at the Rutgers radar it appears we are approaching the end over here in Middlesex County. A bit of a disappointment out here but again, not at all out of character. Just wasn't a big enough storm to blanket everyone.
  16. You can do both, except meteorology is probably a credit intensive major. There are too many of those these days. That said, i work in mental health and it is an endlessly fascinating field. The best is when you see people come to grips with some serious issues or trauma and then move on to become productive members of society. There are many types of pros working in this field today, lots of opportunity.
  17. Yeah, nothing you can do. Be nice to have a storm of 8-9 inches here again, have not seen one for a few years; most have topped out at 3-6, and many at 2-4. Seems I either get the odd 30 incher or I get 4 inches. Normal "MECS" just don't occur IMB lately. We got a long way to go, thought the usual suspects are already saying it will be bad conditions for snow this year, again...
  18. Every once in awhile someone posts something so profoundly true I have to tip my hat. What happened to diplomacy? Speak softly and all? It's a task to get through the day....
  19. Depends on your location. It's been snowing again here for hours but has not accumulated more than a dusting. So I don't expect those bands to get down to Middlesex County or SI.
  20. it is snowing again a bit over on this side of the Arthur Kill was well, enough to put down a dusting over my cleaned walk. Not enough to get me a delay tomorrow. BUt hey its Dec. Long way to go yet. It is not at all unprecedented over the years for higher elevations and more interior areas to be doing well while the coast does not. Many years we had very few storms down my way but areas in Sussex, Warren, even Bergen would still see a few decent events. To clarify though, the rates aren't enough to get to an inch anytime soon. More like mood flakes. Go out and take walk. I fired up the snowblower ( which was useless in the 2 -3 of slush and let the dog jump around and chase snowballs.Poor guy. I went in and got dressed for bed, mentioned to my wife to let the dog in. She didn't hear me. He's been out there running around the yard for a long time, covered in snow. She's got him wrapped in a blanket by the fireplace right now.....
  21. That's because they love ya buddy. You win the team spirit award here, hands down.
