  1. PWS says we hit 93°F today. That's about 1.5°F higher than several nearby personal weather stations reported for the day. I think I might invest in a separate thermometer located somewhere else on my property in order to validate the one on my PWS. FWIW, Lebanon and Allentown official weather stations recorded a high of 90. Regardless.... hot. tooooo hot.
  2. Got 1.98" total for the weekend/this morning, so no complaints there, we certainly needed it. All these storms this afternoon/evening have completely missed us though. I think I'll actually have to mow this week at some point, though that's not an endeavor I'm particularly looking forward to. Had a safety meeting at work this morning at 9:30am out at the site I work at. We all just stood there, dripping sweat. The rest of this week's gonna be brutal, but at least I've "graduated" from having to routinely don the Tyvek in this weather.... maybe. You'll be sure to see me kvetching about it here if that comes to be. How many days to fall there again, @Birds~69?
  3. Have to go to bed, we'll see if there's anything in the gauge in the morning.
  4. Pfft. .96"now!!! I see why the flooding advisories are up.
  5. Surprise, surprise! Up to .29" now. Where the heck did this come from!
  6. A welcome reprieve. Only .15" though, but that's .15" more than we have had in quite a while. You love to see it:
  7. Yep, radar looks surprisingly active to our south and west:
  8. I'm not going to argue with that! Somehow we made it up to 91°F today. Yesterday was 89.9, and the two previous days were both above 90. But yeah, while not super dry out, it is noticeably less humid than it has been. I just want some dang rain is all. .05" in three weeks, dang.
  9. Yeah I'm wondering if reduced evapotranspiration this year is having a noticeable effect or not. But also, please keep in mind that this is for my incredibly small nanoclimate. Interesting though, right? I can't wait to do a full meteo summer comparison with last year. I don't have any huge gaps in the data until a missing month from Nov-Dec when the system went offline while I was traveling and couldn't repair it. Also, those couple of really cool days at the end of May 2021 may be skewing the results a little bit more than I'd like. So yeah, a much fairer comparison will be forthcoming at the end of summer. (I remember those days. Those were a good couple of days. )
  10. Ok, just for funsies: Two charts, the first showing 5/20-7/14 high temps and precip and the second showing average daily temps for the same period this year and last. (I have a mysterious gap in my logs from early May last year and the 20th is the first date I have reliable data for.) Even though it's a relatively short data set (n=56 days) I think it's interesting. Both this year's daily highs and daily averages are trending slightly cooler than last year--however, this time period has been hotter on average than the same period last year. I might do some more charts showing humidity, but these are messy enough as it is for now. Disclaimer: data is for my back yard nanoclimate. 2021 and 2022 May 10 to July 14 Daily High Temperature and Precipitation 2021 and 2022 May 10 to July 14 Daily Average Temperature
  11. Hadn't thought to check my stats. I'm at 6 >90°F days in July and 16 since May 1st. We have had only one classically defined heatwave, from 6/30 to 7/2. Contrast to last year when we had had 20 >90°F days since 5/1/21, 6 again in the first two weeks of July, and 4 legitimate heatwaves by 7/15/21. Hmm. I think I might have to go play with Excel a little bit now that I have all of this data.
  12. I haven't mowed in two weeks--my lawn has barely grown in that time. I might take a stab at it tomorrow, just to even it out a bit. Need some rain, and hopefully we'll get some this weekend. After that: 90's and above for the foreseeable future. Ugh. At least the days are getting shorter though.
  13. Almost for us, though I couldn't tell you the difference between 89.9 and 90.
  14. This is just cruel. Wife said: "I just felt a few drops." I said "look."
  15. Aaaand just like that, it's sliding to the north. NM
  16. K wot's this all about, then? Not getting my hopes up, but it is nice to see. I'm roughly where that 19605 dot is.
  17. No rain for us again. I think my whole neighborhood is in a micro-drought. It got super dark but the temp hardly dropped at all as well. Maybe Sunday into Monday we'll finally get some relief, but it won't be enough to offset what will be essentially 3 weeks of negligible moisture by Sunday.
  18. Elevation and microclimate, perhaps? Enjoy it! I've got 4/10 of the next ten days (including tomorrow) progged at 90 or above locally (~400' asl), and 3/10 where I work in southern NJ (~10' asl).
  19. Finally measurable at 0.04"! Better than nothing.
  20. More stuff developing to my west, looking like it's gonna slide on south of me but maybe some of you guys can cash in.
  21. So my back deck is wet, but my gauge still measures zero. Thankful for at least a tiny little bit of rain by my gauge still reads zero. This pattern sucks. Showers are at least progged for the next 8 hours, we shall see how that actually turns out. On a positive note, at least tomorrow is looking cooler, so my wife and her mom and best friend won't melt at the Kutztown Folk Festival. Still not quite sure how I dodged that bullet but I'll take it.
