  1. Surprise, surprise! Up to .29" now. Where the heck did this come from!
  2. A welcome reprieve. Only .15" though, but that's .15" more than we have had in quite a while. You love to see it:
  3. Yep, radar looks surprisingly active to our south and west:
  4. I'm not going to argue with that! Somehow we made it up to 91°F today. Yesterday was 89.9, and the two previous days were both above 90. But yeah, while not super dry out, it is noticeably less humid than it has been. I just want some dang rain is all. .05" in three weeks, dang.
  5. Yeah I'm wondering if reduced evapotranspiration this year is having a noticeable effect or not. But also, please keep in mind that this is for my incredibly small nanoclimate. Interesting though, right? I can't wait to do a full meteo summer comparison with last year. I don't have any huge gaps in the data until a missing month from Nov-Dec when the system went offline while I was traveling and couldn't repair it. Also, those couple of really cool days at the end of May 2021 may be skewing the results a little bit more than I'd like. So yeah, a much fairer comparison will be forthcoming at the end of summer. (I remember those days. Those were a good couple of days. )
  6. Ok, just for funsies: Two charts, the first showing 5/20-7/14 high temps and precip and the second showing average daily temps for the same period this year and last. (I have a mysterious gap in my logs from early May last year and the 20th is the first date I have reliable data for.) Even though it's a relatively short data set (n=56 days) I think it's interesting. Both this year's daily highs and daily averages are trending slightly cooler than last year--however, this time period has been hotter on average than the same period last year. I might do some more charts showing humidity, but these are messy enough as it is for now. Disclaimer: data is for my back yard nanoclimate. 2021 and 2022 May 10 to July 14 Daily High Temperature and Precipitation 2021 and 2022 May 10 to July 14 Daily Average Temperature
  7. Hadn't thought to check my stats. I'm at 6 >90°F days in July and 16 since May 1st. We have had only one classically defined heatwave, from 6/30 to 7/2. Contrast to last year when we had had 20 >90°F days since 5/1/21, 6 again in the first two weeks of July, and 4 legitimate heatwaves by 7/15/21. Hmm. I think I might have to go play with Excel a little bit now that I have all of this data.
  8. I haven't mowed in two weeks--my lawn has barely grown in that time. I might take a stab at it tomorrow, just to even it out a bit. Need some rain, and hopefully we'll get some this weekend. After that: 90's and above for the foreseeable future. Ugh. At least the days are getting shorter though.
  9. Almost for us, though I couldn't tell you the difference between 89.9 and 90.
  10. This is just cruel. Wife said: "I just felt a few drops." I said "look."
  11. Aaaand just like that, it's sliding to the north. NM
  12. K wot's this all about, then? Not getting my hopes up, but it is nice to see. I'm roughly where that 19605 dot is.
  13. No rain for us again. I think my whole neighborhood is in a micro-drought. It got super dark but the temp hardly dropped at all as well. Maybe Sunday into Monday we'll finally get some relief, but it won't be enough to offset what will be essentially 3 weeks of negligible moisture by Sunday.
  14. Elevation and microclimate, perhaps? Enjoy it! I've got 4/10 of the next ten days (including tomorrow) progged at 90 or above locally (~400' asl), and 3/10 where I work in southern NJ (~10' asl).
  15. Finally measurable at 0.04"! Better than nothing.
  16. More stuff developing to my west, looking like it's gonna slide on south of me but maybe some of you guys can cash in.
  17. So my back deck is wet, but my gauge still measures zero. Thankful for at least a tiny little bit of rain by my gauge still reads zero. This pattern sucks. Showers are at least progged for the next 8 hours, we shall see how that actually turns out. On a positive note, at least tomorrow is looking cooler, so my wife and her mom and best friend won't melt at the Kutztown Folk Festival. Still not quite sure how I dodged that bullet but I'll take it.
  18. Radar says it's raining, but it's not. With a DP of 71.2°F at the surface, I suspect there's a dry layer somewhere above because nothing's hitting the ground. 11 days and counting without any measurable rain IMBY.
  19. 10 days now without measurable rain. Getting crispy out there. Hopefully tomorrow night, but I'm not holding my breath. At least today was pleasantly cloudy most of the day.
  20. So it goes. Mid-Atlantic summer is upon us. Today was thankfully mostly cloudy, at least. My wife is taking her mom to the Kutztown Folk Festival this weekend, traditionally known in my family as the "hottest weekend all summer" just because of course it is. Somehow I've managed to be able to opt out this year. Something about needing me to "watching the puppy" or "catch up on house projects". The "puppy" is largely self-governing at this point, and any "house projects" can safely be postponed due to having to "watch the puppy" so it's a win-win. I think I'll be able to manage all of the above while sipping a beverage or two in my basement woodshop for a change. My wife is a saint.
  21. We've had 9 consecutive days of non-measurable rain now. I last mowed a week ago, and my lawn has barely grown. I refuse to water it though. It's still green-ish. In spots.
  22. Beautiful day today, if just a bit warm for my liking. But are you guys seeing the satellite imagery right now? I don't thing I've ever seen clouds like this: Probably enhanced by the low sun angle, but still. Looked out west windows and saw streaky clouds and then took a look at the satellite. Fascinating.
  23. Nothing. Had to water. Thankfully the soaker hoses are paying for themselves, but we don't have the veggie garden hooked up yet so it was time to sweat and get bitten. Really wanted that rain today. My parents down near Oxford got about 1.75".
