  1. Closing in on 2” here. Rates hovering between 1” to over 2” per hour. Received half an inch yesterday.
  2. Crazy CG’s and shelf cloud, looks like a haboob. Near-3 inch rates at home. About to get smoked at LIE exit 62. Green sky = hail core?
  3. I believe this is the first time I’ve seen a Slight Risk verify for LI in my almost 4 years of living here. Initial wind gusts were near Isaias-level.
  4. Super dark here with on and off downpours just ahead of the line. I actually felt some resistance trying to open the door just now. Edit: It’s here.
  5. Forgot just how cold 64 feels in July. 0.35” so far today, 1.51” for July already.
  6. How the Atlantic sustains the severe storms LI would’ve killed off is something I’d love to know.
  7. Potent but short-lived downpour. Scored 0.25” in a span of roughly 3-4 minutes, the first 0.20” fell in roughly half that time.
  8. 81 with a strong breeze. Severe Nothingstorm Warning with that first storm, another Warning with this next one, maybe I’ll luck out this time.
  9. 91/75 split today. Temp leveled off after shortly after 10 AM. The Heat Index was in the 100’s all day but I still feel cheated.
  10. 89/79 (HI 105). High of 90 so far.
  11. 87/77 (HI 97). Topped out at 91, temps leveled off just after 11.
  12. While I do applaud the NWS for trying to simplify their alerts, most of the confusion seems to be Watch vs Warning. “Watch” ultimately tells me nothing and should really be replaced with “Advisory”, because that’s all it is. “Warning” is obvious and should remain. In my opinion, “Tornado Advisory” not only sounds better, but it’d give the general public a better understanding of the situation than “Tornado Watch” currently does.
  13. I genuinely feel LGA is going to see a low of 90°F within the next decade. If not 90°F I at least expect the current record of 86°F to fall sooner rather than later, considering LGA has done it thrice already.
  14. Still hot here though, the heat index topped out at 102 with a high temp of “only” 88. I get the feeling that this is going to be a summer full of 89’s here.
  15. Heavy sun showers in Bayonne. Nice to finally see convection.
  16. 0.75” here. High of 84 here, morning low of 70, currently 62.
  17. Topped out at 79 here, DP made it feel a bit hotter than that however. Call me weird but I love the combination of this thick humid air + a nice breeze.
  18. Finally getting a some decent rains. First inch+ per hour rates in quite a while.
  19. 90 here, a bit unexpected.
  20. First measurable precip of the day here falling now. Sky is really lighting up to the south over the ocean. Makes no sense why the Atlantic and the LI Sound do so much better with storms than LI itself.
