  1. 91 here, which is the high for today.
  2. This summer has been pretty meh overall, but I can’t say it’s been “cool”, 2009 and 2014 were abysmal. Coming off of the previous 3 summers anything not top 10 worthy feels cooler than normal.
  3. I’m next to FRG right now, hopefully I can get far north enough to see hail. I’m probably the only person here that has never seen it.
  4. This is has to be the thickest wildfire smoke I’ve ever seen around here, normally it’s higher up in the atmosphere.
  5. Got cloudy for a good 2 hours. Sun’s out now. 83/78. High was 91.
  6. PWS: 88.9 / 81.4 (HI 108) Kestrel: 88.9 / 79.5 (HI 105) Today has the highest dews of this heat wave.
  7. Tiny shower overhead with inch per hour rates. 92/74 split today, averages out to the warmest day of the year so far, although it wasn’t the warmest high of the year.
  8. I believe this was my first “official” heat wave. 90, 90, 92 As pathetic of a heat wave as it may appear each day saw heat indicies above 100.
  9. I’d always suspected my dews ran a bit high, and they probably do, but I recently bought a Kestrel and it seems my PWS isn’t off by much. PWS - 85/77 Kestrel - 86/76 Snuck in a 90 today, low was 68.
  10. Can’t say I’ve ever seen strong/severe thunderstorms both precede and succeed a Tropical Storm by a matter of hours.
  11. Closing in on 2” here. Rates hovering between 1” to over 2” per hour. Received half an inch yesterday.
  12. Crazy CG’s and shelf cloud, looks like a haboob. Near-3 inch rates at home. About to get smoked at LIE exit 62. Green sky = hail core?
  13. I believe this is the first time I’ve seen a Slight Risk verify for LI in my almost 4 years of living here. Initial wind gusts were near Isaias-level.
  14. Super dark here with on and off downpours just ahead of the line. I actually felt some resistance trying to open the door just now. Edit: It’s here.
  15. Forgot just how cold 64 feels in July. 0.35” so far today, 1.51” for July already.
  16. How the Atlantic sustains the severe storms LI would’ve killed off is something I’d love to know.
  17. Potent but short-lived downpour. Scored 0.25” in a span of roughly 3-4 minutes, the first 0.20” fell in roughly half that time.
  18. 81 with a strong breeze. Severe Nothingstorm Warning with that first storm, another Warning with this next one, maybe I’ll luck out this time.
  19. 91/75 split today. Temp leveled off after shortly after 10 AM. The Heat Index was in the 100’s all day but I still feel cheated.
  20. 89/79 (HI 105). High of 90 so far.
