0.09” so far. Also can’t recall the last time we were under a Tornado Watch, they’re so rare that even Tornado Warnings occur with greater frequency.

Nice surprise stationary storm. I’m on the outer edge of it so not much rain but there’s a good amount of lightning. Areas underneath this storm must be flooding.

The Jersey Shore is basically Central Florida now.

Imagine Suffolk receiving more rain this summer from tropical cyclones than from convection. More tropical storm hours than thunderstorm hours for the year.

Stores are bad but it’s nothing anywhere near the level of Sandy or the 1st wave of COVID, it seems people have become accustomed to these events. I lost power for maybe 5 minutes at the most during Isaias, never lost it during Irene or Sandy when I lived in Queens.

Henri, if it comes, would be the 4th (or 5th?) tropical cyclone impact here in the last 13 months.
-
88 here, down from 93.

90/77 (HI 102). Officially a heat wave. This morning’s low of 77 might be the warmest so far this year. May not hold through the entire day though.
-
96/74 split today. Warmest day since 7/28/20 which saw 96/80. Both June (94) and August (96) have higher maxes than July (92) this summer.

Earth is nowhere near overpopulated. The issue isn’t population, just take a look at which countries spew the most greenhouse gases per capita and why/how, and also which industries are primarily responsible. The bulk of greenhouse emissions in the US come from transportation. Cities almost universally have much lower carbon footprints (per capita) than areas outside of cities.

Storm blew up only to collapse like 2 radar revolutions later. I’ve been ignoring Special Weather Statements and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings all summer, although this one fooled me for a second when it started strengthening.
