  1. 93/76 (HI 105) here. Excessive Heat Warning definitely verified here, although I’m only under a Heat Advisory since I’m just to the south of the NW/SW Suffolk border.
  2. Car thermometer read 82 while entering Connetquot River State Park and 87 while exiting (heading west). A distance of less than 2 miles, pretty much sums up the climate here vs ISP.
  3. Closing in on 1.50”, all light rain until about an hour ago. I thought it was over when the sun started coming out, but nope.
  4. 87/65 here, finally back to normal.
  5. It’s actually been rather dry here as of late, unlike areas further west. It’d be nice if that inch+ zone could shift further west, I could certainly use it.
  6. 56 here this morning. 50’s in July/Aug feel so foreign to me.
  7. High of 91 here, same as yesterday. Currently 79.
  8. I’ve felt that way since I moved here a couple of years ago. Granted I’m further west and slightly more north but sometimes the difference between here and there is significant.
  9. This wildfire smoke is insane, I didn't smell it last week but now it smells like the fire is within walking distance. It just came out of nowhere. Sky is clear to the south/east but very hazy to the north/west.
  10. 91 here, which is the high for today.
  11. This summer has been pretty meh overall, but I can’t say it’s been “cool”, 2009 and 2014 were abysmal. Coming off of the previous 3 summers anything not top 10 worthy feels cooler than normal.
  12. I’m next to FRG right now, hopefully I can get far north enough to see hail. I’m probably the only person here that has never seen it.
  13. This is has to be the thickest wildfire smoke I’ve ever seen around here, normally it’s higher up in the atmosphere.
  14. Got cloudy for a good 2 hours. Sun’s out now. 83/78. High was 91.
  15. PWS: 88.9 / 81.4 (HI 108) Kestrel: 88.9 / 79.5 (HI 105) Today has the highest dews of this heat wave.
  16. Tiny shower overhead with inch per hour rates. 92/74 split today, averages out to the warmest day of the year so far, although it wasn’t the warmest high of the year.
  17. I believe this was my first “official” heat wave. 90, 90, 92 As pathetic of a heat wave as it may appear each day saw heat indicies above 100.
  18. I’d always suspected my dews ran a bit high, and they probably do, but I recently bought a Kestrel and it seems my PWS isn’t off by much. PWS - 85/77 Kestrel - 86/76 Snuck in a 90 today, low was 68.
  19. Can’t say I’ve ever seen strong/severe thunderstorms both precede and succeed a Tropical Storm by a matter of hours.
