  1. Stores are bad but it’s nothing anywhere near the level of Sandy or the 1st wave of COVID, it seems people have become accustomed to these events. I lost power for maybe 5 minutes at the most during Isaias, never lost it during Irene or Sandy when I lived in Queens.
  2. Got an alert for the Storm Surge Warning but not the Hurricane Warning, I’m about as inland as can be for LI.
  3. Henri, if it comes, would be the 4th (or 5th?) tropical cyclone impact here in the last 13 months.
  4. 90/77 (HI 102). Officially a heat wave. This morning’s low of 77 might be the warmest so far this year. May not hold through the entire day though.
  5. 96/74 split today. Warmest day since 7/28/20 which saw 96/80. Both June (94) and August (96) have higher maxes than July (92) this summer.
  6. A brush fire, an EF1, or a microburst aimed directly at 79th St Transverse.
  7. 94/75/110 here. Hottest day of the year.
  8. Earth is nowhere near overpopulated. The issue isn’t population, just take a look at which countries spew the most greenhouse gases per capita and why/how, and also which industries are primarily responsible. The bulk of greenhouse emissions in the US come from transportation. Cities almost universally have much lower carbon footprints (per capita) than areas outside of cities.
  9. Storm blew up only to collapse like 2 radar revolutions later. I’ve been ignoring Special Weather Statements and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings all summer, although this one fooled me for a second when it started strengthening.
  10. 93/76 (HI 105) here. Excessive Heat Warning definitely verified here, although I’m only under a Heat Advisory since I’m just to the south of the NW/SW Suffolk border.
  11. Car thermometer read 82 while entering Connetquot River State Park and 87 while exiting (heading west). A distance of less than 2 miles, pretty much sums up the climate here vs ISP.
  12. Closing in on 1.50”, all light rain until about an hour ago. I thought it was over when the sun started coming out, but nope.
  13. 87/65 here, finally back to normal.
  14. It’s actually been rather dry here as of late, unlike areas further west. It’d be nice if that inch+ zone could shift further west, I could certainly use it.
  15. 56 here this morning. 50’s in July/Aug feel so foreign to me.
  16. High of 91 here, same as yesterday. Currently 79.
  17. I’ve felt that way since I moved here a couple of years ago. Granted I’m further west and slightly more north but sometimes the difference between here and there is significant.
  18. This wildfire smoke is insane, I didn't smell it last week but now it smells like the fire is within walking distance. It just came out of nowhere. Sky is clear to the south/east but very hazy to the north/west.
