  1. The plans for Guilford as of now are to just do remote learning on Friday. Can’t speak to any other districts but they all usually come to the same conclusions.
  2. If it slows down a bit we could have Carolina Crusher #2 exactly 25 years later.
  3. Went to Boone today to actually see it snow. 10/10, totally recommend just traveling to see it snow instead of waiting endlessly. It’s been 6 years since I’ve seen snow like that in High Point.
  4. 6 years and a month now since a warning criteria snow in the Triad. There’s gonna be a whole generation that hasn’t seen a real snow.
  5. That was an incredibly efficient EWRC. I was hoping for the pressure to rise more and the core to look a little more ragged. We’re quickly running out of time for this thing to weaken enough to matter with the surge.
  6. I talked to my sister in Old Fort this morning. From what she’s been told by the emergency personnel there, there’s no real way to get anywhere west of Old Fort as of now. I’m sure the situation with road closures is fluid but Montreat and Swannanoa were VERY hard hit.
  7. Same here, last I heard from my sister was this morning. I think they’re fine but it’s unnerving.
  8. I know the Swannanoa at Biltmore and the French Broad at Fletcher have both broken records and obviously still rising.
  9. Flash flood emergency in Greensboro right now. I haven’t seen any videos but there are numerous reports of water rescues.
  10. I wasn’t really expecting to get pelted by sleet my entire run this morning. I guess it’s better than rain or nothing? I should always assume it can sleet.
  11. I mean if Boone can’t get snow to stick there’s not much hope for the rest of us.
  12. Trees here in the Triad are maybe a little more shiny than they usually are in the rain. I wouldn’t say freezing rain but maybe sticky rain?
  13. Blinding graupel storm was not in my lunch run forecast.
  14. Oh yeah now the wedge over performs like crazy. It’s 39 here now.
  15. Ended up with 1.75” here which was honestly more than I thought looking at it. Just under 10” for the season (counting sleet) without ever having 2” of actual snow at once.
  16. Still mostly just rain here. Wasting some of our very limited precipitation.
  17. It would make a lot more of a difference for them than us I think.
  18. The play by play on that NAM was really something.
  19. I really hate this hobby sometimes
  20. I’m gonna feel some kind of a way if we go through this pattern without getting more than 2” of snow here for the first time since 2018 (that brick of sleet on my porch doesn’t count).
  21. Well the first thump was better on the NAM but the 2nd one looks squished. Thus the mixed messages. It’s hard to put much stock into the NAM until it shows some consistency.
  22. Umm the roads here have a 4-5” thick sheet of ice on them. 906 PM EST Sun Jan 16 2022 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EST MONDAY... ...WINTER STORM WARNING IS CANCELLED... * WHAT...Accumulating snow and freezing rain has ended. Areas of black ice possible through early Monday morning. * WHERE...Portions of central North Carolina. * WHEN...Until 9 AM EST Monday.
  23. I can’t believe how much sleet we have. It’s been pouring sleet for hours and hours. Hopefully we miss out on most of the ZR?
  24. Some weird reports but I see no evidence of anything but sleet here in High Point right now.
  25. mPING is a mess in central NC. I don’t know what people are doing but I’ve seen plain rain reported where it’s 22 degrees and snow in places where it hasn’t snowed in 4 hours.
