  1. 1.1 here the last 4 days, picture perfect day today. Looks like summer thunderstorms will increase in coverage and most of the state should get decent rains the next week or so.
  2. I will probably go up to where Halls Chapel road crosses the river and park on the other side of the river. I missed one in that area a few weeks back that was over 20 inches. He's probably gone but worth another try. It's a nice area to wade, you can wade downstream for a mile or more below the bridge before its posted land. The river is actually really low for May. Summer fishing may be really rough this year if we don't get more heavy rain. I would love to try for some muskies, but would have no idea what I'm doing.
  3. Hey guys, I'm going fishing Saturday morning (7-NOONISH) up to South Toe river in Yancey County. I know that's a long trip for many of you but if you want to join me send me a message and we can meet up!
  4. Nasty cell fired up just to my southeast. Small hail near Glenwood
  5. Nice surprise shower today dropped .20
  6. Above 5 thousand feet its pretty common. Elsewhere no.
  7. We may not crack 80 again until June at this rate
  8. Got to 27 here. 2 nights in a row below 28, pretty rare for late April.
  9. 26 here but only just a little frost. Probably warmer tonight but bigger frost
  10. 26 here. Had to be a record or close to it
  11. Although it's basic climatology, western NC and SC have been getting so much more rain than eastern areas the past few years especially since Florence. I'm still at a decent surplus on the year and close to 3 inches on the month.
  12. It looks like it's snowing high on the black mountain range
  13. Doesn't look like a late April snow map, more like March
  14. Over 2 inches of rain today and a tornado warning.
  15. Sounds good man, I'm still waiting on our forum fishing trip this summer
  16. I usually don't go opening day either but time is of the essence now. I went up to South Toe in Yancey County and caught 4 including a 17 inch rainbow. I missed a rainbow closer to 20. Wading was unpleasant but water levels were about perfect. There were fewer people fishing than I have ever seen on opening day. Weather played a big part but I've seen even colder opening days.
  17. Anyone else freeze half to death trying to catch trout this morning?
  18. Wind is ripping here, gusts to 45 on my station
  19. I was about to post the same thing, can't go long without a downpour!
  20. Could be some snow Thursday for the mountains and a big cool down
