  1. Ok but the fact still remains that the infrastructure and population density in the NY-NJ area is so much larger than this area of FL. There isn't $65 billion worth of property in the region to destroy. That's all I'm saying.
  2. This and the fact there aren't over 1 million acres of sparsely inhabited pine forest in southern NJ. This is a strong storm and there will be damage to private and public infrastructure but I don't think it is physically possible for this storm to be costlier than Sandy given the location.
  3. I know I'm stating the obvious but this makes a big difference in terms of impact. East of Panama City is pretty empty. If it hits PCB directly, lots more stuff to destroy.
  4. I am relatively familiar with area of projected landfall being originally from SW Georgia and travelling down to the area to visit the beaches quite a bit over the years. In terms of impact on population centers, there aren't many better places that this could hit. The area is called the Forgotten Coast for a reason. East of Panama City and around the Big Bend is relatively undeveloped compared with the areas farther from Panama City west to the AL line. There aren't any of the large, ocean-front towers that you see in that area. Between the coast and I-10 there are hundreds of thousands of acres of national and state forest land and miles and miles of pine forest. This isn't meant to minimize the strength of this storm or the impact it will have on the people who do live in the area but all things considered, it would be worse if it were to landfall further west. Further inland in the Tallahassee area is a bit of a different story but there obviously isn't a surge worry. I would imagine their main worry will be wind damage to the large trees and heavy rain.
  5. It's blown up in the Greens over the last week or so. Absolutely peak around here.
  6. Glad to see you getting back to fair health squire! Thous searches of the scrolls are surely an indication that you'll soon be lacing up thy own knickers!
  7. I could hook you up with my brother in Thomasville, GA. Straight shot down through Tallahassee to Appalachee Bay. Only a couple of hours to St. George Island. The Lowe’s that he works at is already out of generators and water.
  8. Pffffft, like Kiawah will be better than a member owned 9-holer in NNE that’s getting ready to shut down for the season!
  9. Too bad you didn't have time for a quick round of golf, I'd invite you while you were here.
  10. Every time a hole gets punched in the Panama City Beach wall of buildings, a new taller one gets put up in its place. The last time I was down there in 2017, it was like night and day depending on which side you were on. Brutal heat just like several miles inland where the sea breeze was blocked by the high rises and nice beach conditions with a cooling breeze on the sand. I've been going there on and of for the last 20 years and my first trip was over 30 years ago. The changes are astounding.
  11. We had at least three cars stop and take pictures while we were golfing today.
  12. Sneaky? It’s always a top day around here.
  13. St. George is a beautiful area. Apalachicola is cool little twon too.
  14. Well above normal is well above normal. You can sugarcoat it all you want but “normal” takes everything into account and above is above. Just because it happens when your sleeping doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
  15. Foliage seemed to explode in the week since I left. Much brighter on the inbound flight than the outbound last Saturday.
  16. I land at BTV at noon. Think I’ll be shivering in my shorts when I get off the plane?
  17. So I shouldn’t be wearing shorts when I get off th plane at BTV?
  18. It’s easy, I’m in San Diego for the week My wife may take issue when I get home Friday pm.
  19. Good luck Ginx. I was at a Mission Beach in San Diego today and the waves were 3’-5’. I was thinking of you.
  20. I’d say a week is a good estimate. I got married September 29, 2001, so I typically note the foliage around this time. I don’t recall a drastic difference.
