  1. Its weird. For the most part, you would think its somewhat normal around here. I've had almost continuous snow in my yard sin 11/11 or so, though it did get down to patches after the rain/warmth last week. The issue for outdoor activities is depth. The 3"-4" we got after the melt doesn't cut it for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling etc. One positive for some activities though is how cold it got after the snow melted, the ground and wet spots have frozen up so the trails will benefit when the snow does build up a bit more
  2. Welcome to VT, at least for a short visit.
  3. That’s what you call your wife?
  4. My friend does have some hope on the horizon. His area is scheduled to get fiber through EC Fiber https://www.ecfiber.net in the next year or so. 23 towns in East-central VT banded together you build their own high speed fiber optic network. As for me, I dropped Consolidated back when they were still Fairpoint. We have cable access and with the advent of WiFi calling could get rid of our landline. We had such problems just with their billing that I couldn’t take it and dumped them. I have never once thought about going back.
  5. If he has Consolidated Communications, he could be living in downtown BTV and have the same issue. They are the worst. I can’t even find the words to adequately describe how truly awful they are. I listened to one of their customer service reps literally yell at my office mate the other day. He just moved to a place where they are his only option for phone or internet and there is no cell signal. It is the worst telecom company ever.
  6. I love watching Pep have a meltdown.
  7. I can answer the second question. Snow doesn't fall off the panels on my roof, which I think is a 2/12 pitch. They do not perform with a lot of snow on them and I am too chicken to try and clear them off. I get calls from the company in winter asking if I have lost my wi fi signal because they can't detect any activity.
  8. I had a heat pump water heater installed a couple of years ago when the tank that came off the boiler sprung a leak. It works well and doesn’t use nearly as much electricity as a standard water heater.
  9. I would love to but I’m not ready to spend that money yet.
  10. My boiler was installed in March 2001. There was so much snow they couldn’t get the big old one out of the basement and had to leave it until the bulkhead was clear. I figured the entire burner would have to be replaced but it was just the motor. Took him about 15 minutes.
  11. Same here. I actually wondered if was heavy time on the cars
  12. I grew up with wood and have no desire to deal with it now. Luckily, it seems to just be the burner motor. We have a hybrid electric hot water heater so at least we have hot water. Until a couple of years ago our hot water came from the boiler too. Repair man is on his way. Hopefully, it’s not an unpleasant Christmas surprise.
  13. -4 and I’m lucky enough to my burner motor sh*t the bed. House is down to 60 and the repair man can’t get here until 8:00
  14. Lol, You’ve got a lot of work to do to become a true NNE’r. Squeaky snow is one of the small things that make it winter.
  15. Looked one of those haboubs that roll over Phoenix every once in a while
  16. Got the squall warning too. Drive through some heavy snow around exit 6. Visibility down to 1/2-3/4 mile for a time and the roads started to get pretty covered. No wind to speak of though. Didn’t seem like a true squall though. About an inch or so of accumulation at home.
  17. That is the top of the list if I were to get a new one. For some reason, my wife thinks replacing our 40 year old cabinets is more important. Just can't reason with her! 3" with light snow falling when I left for work at 6:30
  18. My sled is an ‘07, my wife rides a 2011 and my son is on the newest, a 2012. I love to ride but I would have a hard time justifying the cost of a new one. Even though there is alway some point in the season when I see a brand new sled somewhere out on the trail and start thinking “A payment wouldn’t be that bad. I can afford $150 a month.” Come May and June though, I’m pretty happy not to be sending that check each month of the non-riding season!
  19. I have a friend who has a ‘17 Sidewinder. MotoSki orange highlights. 137” I think. 200 hp. He got it to ride in Quebec but has been riding it around here more and sort of wishes he has the 129” since our trails are tighter. Nice sled but way more than I need.
  20. I have a 4 stroke Jag and my wife and son both have 600 ACEs. Mine is heavy but balanced really well with the motor low in the chassis. It handles well and feels lighter than it is. I don’t do off-trail so that doesn’t factor for me. The ACEs are nice and not much heavier than 2 strokes. Great sleds for what they are. My son says he’s seen 75 on his and that’s more than enough for a 15 year old. He keeps saying he wants an Etec and I say he can have one when he can pay for it.
  21. On my way home from a meeting in Northfield tonight, 89 between exit 5 and 6 had snow and what I think must have been freezing fog. Windshield was icing up and the car thermo never got over 22f. Still snowing with about 3”.
  22. My new sled has the shot start, but you still have to pull it over first thing in morning. Gonna be real fun when it's zero out. You got the 850. Nice.
