  1. I was hoping to see some on the Kanc today but it was not to be. I think the top of that road is 2800’. It was mid 40’s up there. Mt. Washington was pretty well cloaked above tree line but that was the only snow we saw.
  2. Drove through the Whites on Rt.2 on my way to Augusta, ME. Cold drizzle until we got to Gorham. Coldest temps were in Groton, VT, 38 on the car thermo. 40 through the Whites and 46 here in Augusta. Mountains were cloud topped so we didn’t see any snow up high.
  3. Not quite lol. Growing up I heard a lot about both events from old timers. I knew some old farmers that would tell you about things you could see that were remnants of the damage done by those events.
  4. I wonder why MRG didn't get in on that?
  5. This might appeal to some of you. https://vtdigger.org/2019/09/23/as-ski-giants-consolidate-small-independents-form-their-own-cooperative/?utm_source=VTDigger+Subscribers+and+Donors&utm_campaign=9875e19e33-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_09_24_09_38&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_dc3c5486db-9875e19e33-405566485
  6. In VT 1927 Flood 1938 Hurricane 1998 Ice Storm 2007 VDay Snowstorm 2011 TS Irene I listed the first two even though I obviously wasn’t around because they had such a profound impact that I remember hearing stories growing up from people who were there and seeing remnants of the damage from them. They were the two biggest weather events of the 20th century.
  7. I took 2.5 weeks off from playing while on vacation in Germany. Came back and it felt like I had never played golf before. I shot my highest score for 9 holes in over 10 years. I think I've started getting some semblance of a game back but I'm almost afraid to tee it up.
  8. I think this must be what we have in a couple of sand traps at the golf course I play at. I wasn't sure what they were so we marked those bunkers as free drop areas for a tournament this weekend. Didn't want to chance anyone getting stung.
  9. My 60 degree wedge is 60 yards and in. 56 degree 60-100 yards and 52 degree from 90-110 or so
  10. First day of our club championship today. Was playing ok until the last 3 holes. Doubled 16 when I sliced my drive OB. Almost landed in a top down convertible BMW that was driving by. Hit my tee shot just short of the green on the par 3 17th. Pitched on and had a straight, flat 8 foot putt for par. Missed that and had a 3 footer for bogey. Missed that and had an 10” putt for double, was so pissed at that I slammed the putt hard, hit the flagstick and ricocheted out 2 feet, missed that putt too. Ended taking a 5 putt 7 on a par 3. I was steaming on the 18th tee and promptly sliced two into the trees. Found the second and ended up taking an 8. Being an ass, like I was on 17, never helps your golf game. I guess I won’t have any pressure on me in the second round tomorrow.
  11. I missed most of his round We took off for Mt. Washington just before noon and he hadn’t hit the back nine. I listened to quite a bit on satellite radio but missed the really hot stretch. Hoping to catch some tonight. I’m rooting for him. I’ve liked him since hit near miss at Oakmont a couple of years ago.
  12. Rory off to a horrible start +8, tied for 139th
  13. I think Rahm has a good shot. I think the pressure will be too much for Rory. The sentimental favorite has to be Graeme McDowell. I’ve always liked him and am glad he got into this one in his home town. I think Justin Rose might come through this time though.
  14. It’s Open Championship week. Royal Portrush looks like it will be fun. This may be my favorite major. I love the look and feel of links golf and the fact that it’s on before I go to work means I get to watch more than the others. I love the fact that the R&A doesn’t trick up the courses. If conditions allow for low scoring then so be it. If the field struggles to break par that’s fine too.
  15. Did Tip write that first sentence?
  16. Been a fun Open to watch. Was hoping Rory would come through. Woodland has shown nerves a couple of times but never buckled. Good for him. Koepka put some pressure on him and he held up. Great finish on 18.
  17. I like that the Majors each have a different personality. The Masters is special because its the first of the year and can provide great risk/reward situations. The US Open is hard, sometimes bordering on unfair. I like to see the difficult set-ups that demand such intense focus and concentration. Having said that, the USGA goes overboard at times and can't seem to get out of their own way with some of the decisions they make. The British Open might be my favorite. It requires imagination and creativity. I like the fact that the R&A doesn't trick up the golf course and lets nature take it's course. If conditions allow for a low scoring birdie fest, then so be it. If there are strong winds and rain that make par hard to achieve, well, that's fine too. As for the PGA, to me, it has the least amount of character of the 4. I am glad that it has been moved to May and hope it can really start to develop a personality of it's own.
  18. The whining, complaining thing is one of the reasons I don't like Bubba.
  19. I have the 18v system and like all of the tools. I think the trimmer lasts about an hour on a charge. I don't have a ton of trimmimg to do so it works for me.
  20. My little course in Northfield, VT came through winter great and is pretty much in mid-season form.
  21. I’ve always liked Koepka. I liked the fact that he and Peter Uhlein decided to go the European route instead of the standard Q-school route. I remember watching him win over there and thinking he could be great. Got a little ticklish towards the end today though.
