  1. Way too early to make that call, IMO. We certainly won't be seeing the consecutive weeks of widespread 100*F+ highs that we did in 2011, and what seems to be persistent -NAO blocking will also throw a wrench into how the pattern evolves That said, it is certainly looking like this Summer will be on the hotter / drier end for the Central and SW part of the country.
  2. Y'all should already know, these setups rarely come easy.
  3. From all the pictures and storm reports I saw, 6/1 was definitely a impressive storm for the city proper.
  4. FWD has pulled the trigger on an Excessive Heat Warning from 1pm to 7pm today.
  5. If DFW makes it to at least 105°F today, it would be the earliest Dallas has seen a temp this warm in 95 years, only beat by 5/27/1927 with a high of 107°F. It would also be the earliest Dallas has ever seen a daily average this warm on record (92°F)
  6. DFW has broken the record high miminum again today, with a low of only 80°F (previous record was 79°F).Record high today is also 103°F, which should be tied or broken again.
  7. Can I please have the link to that site? I'd like to use it as well.
  8. NWS San Antonio has upgraded the I-35 corridor to an Excessive Heat Warning. FWD says they will hold off for now and re-assess once today's highs are confirmed.
  9. Also, he specifically references 2011 and 1980 as analogs:
  10. Larry Cosgrove is thinking the death ridge is here to stay, at least until mid-August east of the Rockies and well into the fall across the SW.
  11. As one last weak shortwave track around the periphery of the ridge, some convection has developed this morning in SE Oklahoma and SW Arkansas along with mid-level cloud cover, moving SSE. Although it shouldn't have a huge impact on the overall forecast, it may help to keep temps a bit cooler than expected in areas affected by the cloud debris & outflow boundaries, depending on how widespread the activity becomes.
  12. DFW made it to 99°F today, making it the hottest day of the year.
  13. A Heat advisory has now been issued for Houston as well. In fact, almost the entire states of OK and TX are under a heat advisory for the weekend.
  14. After being socked in convective debris all morning, it has finally mixed out around noon with clear skies & full sun. Today's record high is 101*F, which (unless mixing overachieves big time as the HRRR indicates) should be safe. Saturday's record high for DFW is 103*F which (based on current model projections) is in jeopardy of being broken.
  15. Today's high at DFW was 94*F.It could potentially be the last time we see highs in the 90s for a while.
  16. I got your point. My post was just more evidence towards proving your point. I know on weather forums like this, folks tend to be overwhelmingly in love with snow and prefer colder weather, but that doesn't necessarily translate into the real world with the brisk migration that's been ongoing to the Sunbelt over the past 40 years.
