The mountains will have more chances of snow and cold even though we are going into a area wide warmup the next two weeks or so. There may not be a sleet pellet or snowflake for anyone outside the mountains in the foothills piedmont or upstate SC or ga the rest of this winter and into spring I hope I'm wrong but who knows but the mountains are not done with winter type weather snow chances or cold at the least through mid May. They usually never are done with cold snaps in late winter and spring and at least nw flow chances through until the middle of May at times and remember May 92. It's pretty much common sense not to write off the mountains for winter weather on Feb 13th. Way to early even though the next two weeks or so doesn't look promising for any winter weather threats in the southeast.

Nice. At least we're back in the game so to speak of for now. Who knows how far that northern edge precipitation shield will push back west tomorrow but it's sure looking better right now than it did earlier today.

Warm nose over estimated for once in yesterday's storm in the southern foothills. Just changed over to sleet for a short time then back to all snow for the duration of the storm. No freezing rain at all. Usually the warm nose all ways wins out in these areas but wasn't as strong in this storm thank goodness.

Looks like we might add to our totals if the back edge holds together later this evening. Might add another inch or two if a heavier band sets up later this evening. Great event for our area and long overdue.

Yes it is hard to measure with all the sleet on top combined with the wind.

Around 7 inches of Snow just sw of Forest City with a thick layer of sleet on top. Back to all snow in the last hour.

All Snow in sw Rutherford county Danieltown area 24.0 with moderate snow and winds picking up. Snow accumulation pushing 4.0 inches at the moment. Been all snow since it started here at 1:25am

Been waiting for this type of pattern for a very long long long time and it only looks to be just getting started. Fun times ahead for sure. Mountains sitting pretty. No kidding. Me and you know all about the leeside screwjob way to well being in McDowell and Rutherford but you will still get more snow than me anyday up your way compared to down here. So close but yet so far most of the time.

I hope and pray sw Rutherford county can get in on a few flakes on the back edge before the moisture is all gone tomorrow morning. It will be close call as is it always is around here in these setups. We never do good down here with the cold chasing moisture scenarios. Takes forever and forever for the cold to get over the mountains down here. Good luck to all you mountain folks cashing in with this storm and hopefully the snow line can drop a little farther south for the foothills and northern upstate to see some flakes fly. @strongwxncSame here. Light sleet and light flurries in sw Rutherford county. Your right no shut out this year thank goodness. Would of been interesting if that low would have tracked 100 miles to the west with more moisture to play with but nice to enjoy seeing the week of Christmas before the warmup. Hope the delayed pattern changes sometime in January for all of us in the southeast to have a chance at some winter weather. Merry Christmas to everyone and a happy and hopefully cold and snowy new year

I love it. Keep the cooler weather coming. I've just hit 90 once so far this spring and summer in the southern foothills of wnc. Can't complain.
