  1. Time to bring the cacti in the garage again. They enjoyed a week's vacation in the sun and warmth.
  2. Went for a long bicycle ride today and my wife and I went to the park for a walk. People were out en masse and gorgeous skies. So nice after 5 hours on the road in rain yesterday. Frogs are croaking everywhere. Starting to think it is time to take the snow thrower to the basement until Nov/Dec.
  3. We more than doubled what was received Tuesday. Awesome hit.
  4. Wow..slept in today and woke up to a pounding. Measured 10 inches on the car and 8.5 inches on the landscape wall. My wife was up at 5am and said there has been compaction and some melt along the walkway since she got up. Nice surprise.
  5. Cleared the driveway about 45 mins ago. Hair over 4" of heavy wet snow. Clogged the blower chute a few times. It is still snowing at moderate clip and added another 3/4 inch or so. Not disappointed given they were calling for just an inch a day or two ago.
  6. AccuWeather has my town at 1-2" and TWC at 5-8". So 1-8 inches....lol. I would be excited with 3-5 inches - which falls in the middle.
  7. Same here. My wife and I got a pic just before the sun rose and thought it would build...but it faded.
  8. I am not far from you and it is not even sticking to my untreated driveway. Maybe 1/2 inch sticking to a brick landscape wall on my patio and only a dusting is sticking the cars. Pretty much a nothingburger here thus far.
  9. Light flurries here but none is collected on the roads or vehicles so far. Temp is 28 so I would have expected at least a dusting to show on the roads.
  10. There appears to be a number of power lines down here around Flagtown/Neshanic. Minor flurries earlier this afternoon. Sunny now and gusty.
  11. Flurries started here about 10 mins ago. Pretty good intensity at first and now tapering off.
  12. Lots of road closures surrounding us. Going to get on the bicycle shortly and check things out. There is an alternative route out of development that remains open in all but the worst conditions. It looks like the Raritan will crest this afternoon. I think parts of 206 are closed already. If the Finderne Rd bridge into Manville closes later today, we pretty much will be on an island again. Just an inconvenience for me but I hate to see the homes that get flooded.
  13. Still raining here...since yesterday evening. About 2.5 inches snow by the time it moved to sleet then rain last night. I was not going to break out the snowblower but it was quite wet and heavy by 9pm so I decided to make life easy. Before the changeover, the snow was quite lovely. My son was visiting overnight so he took out the drone to film and take pics of the house with fresh snow and the Christmas lights.
  14. Last night, my sump pump ran for the first time since summer. It only triggers once or twice a year. I do not recall it ever triggering in November in the 20+ years we have lived here.
  15. Did my mowing last night - was pretty long after nearly 2 weeks. Last weekend's rain put me behind. Now need the Fall fertilizer.
  16. Well...there was one flash of lightning and thunderclap that hit hard, bright and close to our house. Scared the crap out me and sent the cat scurrying out of my office. Haven't seen him in 15 minutes...lol
  17. Finally started raining in Hillsborough about 10 minutes ago. We need the rain here. Just a moderate shower....no high wind or hail, etc yet.
  18. Just got walloped in last 20 minutes here in Hillsborough.
  19. Some wicked lightning just north/west of us right now
  20. I had to take my wife to doctor this afternoon. We left Hillsborough around 4:45 and headed to New Providence. On Rt 78 we experienced some of the most torrential rains that i have driven in in several years. Everyone cruising with flashers and a fair amount of cars pulled over. Visibility was poor and lots of water on the highway.
  21. Strangely, my wife's phone went off with a loud, audible alert. My phone did not. She told me to grab the cat and go to the basement. The cat got scared by the alarm and, of course, ran off and hid. He would not let me catch him. I told him he would wind up in Secaucus like the Wizard of Oz...lol. For us - just a couple of sprinkles on this cell. Glanced us
  22. We actually did receive a downpour about an hour ago.
  23. Funny- my wife and I were just speaking, over lunch, of how often the cells seem to dissolve as they approach our area (Hillsborough). Almost like a Bermuda Triangle for approaching strong cells at times.
