Strangely, my wife's phone went off with a loud, audible alert. My phone did not. She told me to grab the cat and go to the basement. The cat got scared by the alarm and, of course, ran off and hid. He would not let me catch him. I told him he would wind up in Secaucus like the Wizard of Oz...lol. For us - just a couple of sprinkles on this cell. Glanced us
-
We actually did receive a downpour about an hour ago.
-
Funny- my wife and I were just speaking, over lunch, of how often the cells seem to dissolve as they approach our area (Hillsborough). Almost like a Bermuda Triangle for approaching strong cells at times.
-
Just took the garbage out and shoveled about 1 inch or bit less of slushy junk off the driveway. 34 degrees out..nothing falling right now.
-
15F in Hilllsborough as well.

I just learned of cryoseisms, or frost quakes, also happening in Maine. Apparently one can feel and hear the tremors from the rapidly changing temps / cold increase.
-
Moderate wet snow falling - large flakes - but not sticking as temp is 36 degrees.

12/15 - 12/16 Coastal/Winter Storm & Observations

Mix of rain and flakes here and 35.4F -
Geez my "goal' is to keep the heat off until Halloween and the A/C off until Memorial Day. My wife usually derails the Halloween goal but we get close. I usually sabotage the Memorial Day goal myself. The older I get, the less tolerant I am of the outer boundaries - inside and outside. Though, I still enjoy snow and cold now through the end of January.

down to 25F here already
-
I still have family in WNY. Going to be a big snow event. My brother started his snow blowers last night and topped them off with fresh fuel.
-
32 here currently. My cacti have officially come inside for the winter.

Hillsborough went 100+ on at least two occasions as did SMQ, IIRC.

Woo-hoo...we are getting walloped with much needed rain the last 15 mins in a small but very potent cell.
-
we received a short but much-needed downpour this evening. That in addition to significant rain overnight.
-
We literally received about two drops on my window early afternoon and nothing else today. Sun shining now so not looking good for some relief to plants and lawns here. I even washed my car yesterday for the first time in a month - hoping to trigger a rain event. :-)
-
I hope the storms pan out for us too. We really need the rain. We were in a dry gap with last week's storms and probably has been a month or more since we received significant rainfall in Hillsborough. I saw the MIllstone River near Griggstown was a peculiar shade of bright green on Saturday, and later saw an online article that there is toxic algae bloom. It actually is a bacteria and not algae. I presume the heat and lack of rain have help cultivate that and believe a strong rain will flush it out.
-
Was wondering if we would get there todayl

We hit 98 here yesterday. 3 years ago today my somewhat accurate weather station hit 100 for what is the only time that I recall. I presume that could be passed on Sunday. Dry spell has been brutal on plants and lawns. All the lawns are brown and dormant here unless irrigated. The rains of several days completely missed this part of Somerset Cty. I was watching the maps and hoping for rain but we were in a persistent gap with the cells going north and south of us. My raspberries and tomatoes are wilting and I pulled out the sprinkler yesterday evening. I will water other parts of garden this evening.

major gust about 15 minutes ago. House made a big cracking sound. Ugh

44 degrees here. Gave the cars the first good wash since probably Nov. It was near 60 degrees this afternoon with brine trucks running on the major roads. A bit of a peculiar site. -

light flakes started 30-45 mins ago. Cars and shaded pavement getting coverage. 31F -
Central NJ still seems a wildcard - as well as the western cutoff? Supposed to head out to Harrisburg tomorrow morning. Wondering how bad it will be at home and how far west will have to deal with it on the drive.
