  1. I always wondered that. Just like in the hurricane areas of Florida. What do people do with all the plywood (window coverings) after the storm?
  2. First time I felt the need to go to the basement about an hour ago when Rocky HIll reported a tornado. Just sat on the porch for last 20 mins. The amount of rain falling is incredible.
  3. Snow coming down hard here for last 30-40 minutes. Sticking to cars but not road surface as they had been salted heavily in the past few days.
  4. Went to get the mail an hour ago and misting - putting a glaze on the areas of road that had been plowed. There is better traction on the unplowed surfaces. Temp is 26F.
  5. Just headed out to measure. 5.5 inches so far today. Still snowing - albeit at a slower rate than earlier this morning.
  6. It has been coming down very heavily since onset. My guess is approx 4" already. Will measure in a bit. 31F currently
  7. i measured just over 17" last night and got another inch overnight. Compaction from sleet likely in play. I cleared about 3" Sunday night. Then those same areas equaled the 17" inches I measured in other areas which had not been cleared Sunday night. So, I guess we go with the 18" total. 17" last night plus one inch last night. Pretty good hit.
  8. We have been getting slammed all morning. Occasional sleet mixing in but the accumulation rates are incredidible this morning. Wil try to measure when i get a break from work.
  9. I just looked at the Duke Farms eagle cam and it is snowing real heavily. Hard to discern the bird in the nest with all the snow accumulated on Him/her.
  10. I grew up in the Buffalo Niagara Falls area. I get excited whenever a snow event like this is brewing. After 37 years of marriage my wife still does not understand my excitement and how a storm missing us or underperforming is a bad thing.
  11. Had big flakes for a while, enough to coat rooftops and colder surfaces and areas of the lawn.
  12. snow flurries began about 15 mins ago and, judging by the amount my neighbor's inflatable snowman's head is getting batted about, the winds have picked up.
