  1. The HRRR has been 'bullish' on some convective showers moving through the DC metro between 20-22z this afternoon. With fairly steep lapse-rates from 600-700mb to the surface I wonder if anything frozen hits the ground in the most intense showers... assuming they form.

So if i go by the EJ/Ji rule, not seeing any snow last night or this morning means its the worst winter ever and that i should even bother anymore so bring on spring.  Do I have that right?

What should I put in the description of the Winter 2020-21 Discussion Thread?

lol. Nah, not at all. It just is what it is around here. We spend more time discussing things that aren't real more than real stuff. At least most years. I still can't believe we haven't had a region wide 6-12" yet. I mean wtf man. It's a disaster.

We're behind 1987 now. A disaster indeed! ... And where's your epic 1+ foot ice accretion event?

This brought back memories of college. Tried to cook a whole chicken in the dorms microwave. Doesn't work too well. Freaking thing exploded. Scared the hell out of some of my dorm mates who happened to be near by. Chicken was splattered all over the place, even had a wing hanging down from the ceiling of the microwave. But me being on a limited college budget ate it anyway. At least the pieces that were still somewhat recognizable.

Was there some metal or anything metalic within the turkey?

007, Regret I can't claim that quote, but I sure do agree with it.  Retired from 30 years of federal service 4 years ago.  Spent nearly half my career overseas in 5 different countries having the good fortune to experience some of the most dramatic forms of weather mother nature can muster.  Can't believe how fast the 30 year year career went, let alone the last 4.

I do have a philosophy about time....   When we are 10 years old, a year is 10% of our life (at 10, we could solve every problem imaginable in an hour), at 20,,, a year is 5%,,, at 50, a year is 2% etc.  The older we get, the less each year means in the big picture.  Thus, I can't even believe we're just a few weeks from Thanksgiving and Home Depot has Christmas decorations out already.  Where does the time go?

Were you ever able to find that VHS recording that you and/or one of your friends took of the 18"+/hr snowfall rates on the glacier?
