  1. I can tell when I visit the Poconos, it must have been magnificent back then. Cant see the Milky Way at all until you're at least 50 miles outside of the city.
  2. will this result in more colorful sunrises and sunsets for us?
  3. Better stay at Phase 2 until a vaccine is developed- the parts of the state that have gone into Phase 3 have seen a tripling of the infection rate.
  4. do you eat any of the stuff you spray pesticides on? I stopped eating strawberries because they're on many lists for having the most pesticides on them. Half of the pesticides sprayed in this country need to be banned (and are banned in Europe and Canada- unfortunately the chemical industry is in bed with American politicians, just like most other industries are.)
  5. what about those devices that trap insects? I have one with a blue bulb that traps gnats- I had a large swarm of them over the weekend following me around!
  6. Crazy to see forecasts of Caribou, Maine approaching 100 degrees when we haven't even hit 90 here yet.
  7. NYC seems to be headed down that same road this year.....first half of June has been exceptionally dry, and May was very dry too.
  8. oh I meant this summer might include late heat like 1995 did....along with the dry weather we're already seeing becoming a fire hazard just like 1995 was in August. Next summer might be more like 2010 with all that heat and setting records all over the place.
  9. I'm already worried about this hurricane season.......
  10. They're switching to "smart lighting" which is dimming lighting after 11 PM..... better for health and a good night's sleep!
  11. Nice outlook, Tom! The real headline summer of the decade will be in 2021....it follows the 11 year cycle that began in 1933.....(maybe there was too much of a little ice age influence still going on before that?) Based on how the 11 yr cycle summers have been getting hotter.....2021 may eclipse 2010!
  12. it does sound somewhat like 1995, where summer warmth was mostly in July and August. Either way I strongly think that this summer will take a back seat to the scorcher next summer will be.
  13. hmmm if so that might mean a late hot summer for us, sort of like 1995?
  14. high humidity is a type of air pollution and causes breathing difficulties
  15. was that 2017 when JFK had like 42 75+ dew point days?
  16. ah the nights are amazing when that happens! so nice and cool and so many stars to see and no yucky haze!
  17. Remember August 1995 with all the wild fires? I think we didn't have any precip at all that month until the very last day.....I wish it had waited for one more day (and it almost did, we got it in the hours before September started!) With all that tropical activity in 1995 and most of it turned right before reaching us.
  18. what caused that warming and how long do you think it'll last? The low high for Spring 1968 really stands out!
  19. would be nice to be in NW flow to keep the humidity in check!
  20. Yes and looks like after a few days of work it will be off again for the weekend.
  21. low humidity at 90 or even 100 is AMAZING. it's the humidity that kills us not the temp. Give me some 100 degree temps with 20% humidity.....
  22. question is.....will it be more like 1995 or 2005 or 2012..........? Three different hyperactive years and three different storm patterns. Considering the similarity to winter 2011-12, the two named storms in May, which also matches 2012, I would say that 2012 is a closer match than the other two seasons.
  23. only low 80s here but high humidity my first use of the AC this year
  24. I hate how so many mets are botching the pronunciation of the storm- it shouldn't rhyme with "noble"- it's a Spanish name and should be pronounced that way.
