I got my wish-- it's been sunny for hours here. But the humidity is high so it feels like a sauna lol

Walt, I was hoping you'd have more sunshine in the forecast lol. I hate these inconsequential tropical lows that gum up the works and slow everything down.

Might be more like a 2020-21 kind of winter. ENSO only has a 15-20 percent influence on our weather after all.

Yup, there's a list of el ninos that were among our worst snowfall winters of all time, 72-73 and 97-98 being among them.

Our locals like Lee Goldberg explained that enso only has a 15-20 percent influence on our weather. He compared how different the 20-21 and 21-22 la ninas were from each other.

I'd rather that wait until December, a mild November followed by a cold December is a really good sign for winter isn't it? I wonder if October will finish right near normal?

Looks like November will flip back to warmer than normal, Don?

I saw we had only moderate air quality, which I thought was puzzling. There must be a fire burning somewhere and we got the smoke from it.

The only earthquake I ever remember feeling over here was the big one back in August 2011 a week before Irene hit. I enjoyed that, hope we have it again sometime. It was a nice 5.8

Was that why we didn't go below zero in 2004? I thought we had a shot that winter. 2015 was another winter where it was super cold -- I guess the cold just came in too late (February vs January)? Then again we somehow went below zero in February 2016 on Valentines Day in the middle of a mild winter lol

What's causing the warmest departures to always go to our North? Is it because of the sea breeze and further north position of the ridge?

I look forward to the year 19234 lol. Is there any way to guesstimate what the temperatures might have been here in 1934? I know there were some Long Island weather stations active around then....anyone in SW Nassau?

Why dont we get airmasses that move down the Hudson Valley anymore? They always seem to go west of us and then south. Time to build a wall and divert that air here.

Funny how S NJ got there before we did. Those are the S NJ Pine Barrens correct? Their temps are similar to the Suffolk County Pine Barrens so the growing season there should have ended too.

I wonder how cold it's on those roofs. It has to get to 37 or lower for frost.
