  1. LWXs watch lines up with WPCs icing area nicely:
  2. From an impact size, Event #1 could be the bigger event. Prolonged, light ZR / icing events can accrete much faster than heavier precip storms because of less latent heat release and faster accumulation on exposed or elevated surfaces. Unless it's in the low 20s, rainfall rates above 0.2"/hour won't convert to ice fast.
  3. LWX nailed their warning extension. Nicely done.
  4. Roads in New Windsor starting to cave. Temp down to 30.
  5. Sky opened up in New Windsor. Big fluffy snow sticking to everything except the roads.
  6. Same. Hoping for an epic boom for DCA and NAK.

  10. Got a couple of flakes starting in New Windsor. Not sure if there is a pocket of dry air or something.
  11. Looks like the gap in the radar is starting to fill up pretty quickly. Good to see.
  12. LWX issues Winter Storm Warning from Carroll County west along the Mason-Dixon for 4" - 8": More information
  13. Yes. I learned this ironically at the ESRI conference in San Diego where a rep. from the ECMWF showed a data density map of observations and how there really isn't any ship or buoy data in the Atlantic. They were able to pull a lot of commercial aircraft data down because that's the only heads up they get about the mid latitude cyclones pushing into Europe.
  14. IIRC, the euro relies pretty heavily on aircraft data because of the data void over the Atlantic Ocean.
  15. Inside 60 hours, the NAM has been money all winter.
  16. They might be a tad gunshy after this past weekend.
  17. IMO, big takeway from this winter is the Euro is not what it used to be. Not sure if there was an update that improved forecasting in another domain at the sacrifice of North America, but man it's been hot garbage this winter.
  18. Yup. Forecast high was 49 for me...currently at 41.
  19. UKMET is a winner for everyone. Would put a lot of us at climo at least.
